the double tap works on my 2016.... the battery light does a short blink then a double blink as an acknowlegement. owners manual says you need to be out of range of the car when you lock the fob.

I've used this for years: https://www.amazon.com/Loksak-Shield...ct_top?ie=UTF8. it works great, door won't unlock even if I put the bag up to the door handle. Works for my cellphone too.
It's quite expensive for what it is, though. Much more expensive than an imaginative and fun trip to the local resellit shop.
