New Tires price comparison...
Coincidentally (?) got an email this morning from the same dealer:
"Save $150 on a set of 4 tires on eligible tires tailor-made for your Mercedes Benz..."
So I spent a few minutes doing some comparison tire shopping between MB dealer, Discount Tire, Tire Rack, & Costco. Costco also has $150 savings on set of 4 Michelin also ($70 off tires + $80 off install)
So for my 2015 E400 sedan, with 245/40R18 fronts & 265/35R18 rears,
MB came up with 9 sets, with Pirelli, Continentals, & Michelin.
Discount Tire & Tire Rack has 45 & 31 sets respectively, & has lots of other brands. Amazingly both has the exact same pricing on most of the sets
Costco has 3 sets each of BF Goodrich, Bridgestone & Michelin. Michelin pricing is exactly same as DT & TR
Here's some sampling of a few sets I'm considering for comparison, prices front & rears, without installation:
MB Discount Tire & Tire Rack Costco
OEM Pirelli P Zero Front $195 $176
Rear $248 $191
Pirelli P Zero Nero A/S Front $219 $183
Rear $251 $207
Continental Extreme Contact Sport Front $209 $182
Rear $243 $202
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ Front $238 $185 $185
Rear $268 $218 $218
Michelin Pilot Sport 4S Front $250 $205 $205
Rear $295 $252 $252
So if I plan on sticking with OEM Pirelli P Zero, it's $868 installed (after $150 discount) at the dealer (dealer charges $33 per tire for install) , or $734 at Discount Tire + install
But if I plan to change to Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S, it's $1072 installed at the dealer after $150 discount, or $914 for tires at Costco minus $70 off (the $80 install fee offset) = $844. Looks like Costco is a $228 savings vs dealer.
Bottom line for me is to have one place that do balancing and alignment. On my older Mercedes, I had very good service from Tire Rack, since my mechanic is also a Tire Rack recommended installer.
I thought the newest set of Contis was noiser than the older set, but after a few thousand miles they quieted down quite a bit. Handling on both sets is great. I liked them so much I put a set on the wifes Avalon. Contis tend to rate about the same or a bit under comparable Michelins, but for a much cheaper price.
Changed one brand after 2/3 wear because of the roar from the tires.
There can be big differences-
also, had to wait two weeks once for replacement tire beacause the seller had none in stock--
had to fo elsewhere to get tires sonce 2 were damaged beyond repair in one week.
Yes, PA potholes are prolfic and deep.

Also, as I have proclaimed repeatedly in many threads, I strongly recommend Continental DSW06 over anything else - dont know if they would stagger well though.
