E class for Cybertruck

Most of you might have heard about the Cybertruck unveiling and it’s missteps. What are your opinions and thoughts about it? Would you trade your E class for the Cybertruck?

Ugly as hell, while doesn't look like it can take lot of cargo.
Trucks and luxury sedans are not interchangeable. Got to have them both

Cyber Truck? You mean Cyber Hype, don't you?

I had 2 SUVs when I needed them. They don't drive as well as a sedan or coupe and now that I don't need one I would hate to have to drive one again.

FUGLY to me.

SS body panels are a PIA to do work on since no way to use filler so very expensive for body work which willmake insurance crazy $$$$
Ask those who owned Deloreans.

Load it up or tow and range goes to crap.
Cannot fit into charge stations if you are towing.

Still takes too long to FILL the TANK.

Just looks like an afterthought to boost stock prices and draw interest to Tesla.

MB does not have a truck so no comparison here...

The Cybertruck has a combined cargo volume of 100 cu ft. If you think about it it can carry everything you would carry in a regular pick up, simply keep the top open.
I don’t know much about specs for trucks, but online it looks like F150 has cargo volumes ranging from 60-78 cu ft for the multiple types of cabs.
I know Trucks and Luxury sedans are not interchangeable, but they both seem to have similar price point that comparison is inevitable for some.
Okay the truck has more utility, performance and cargo space, but limited range in base model.

Can't easy find specs for MB pickup, but they offer them with choices of 3 different diesel engines. (unfortunately not in America) so since my Sprinter gets easy 550 miles on the tank, I'd expect at least 600 range on new diesel pickup with smaller engine.
Don't think Tesla can touch such range.

I will laugh out loud at every one of those I see when they hit the highway. Pointing my finger and laughing as hard as I can. Musk is a lunatic
I dig that marble slab dash, however and the dragster steering wheel. My wife would be right at home.

This could be the future of automotive design, but =uh= I don't care for it at all. Maybe it will grow on me

Swap my E class for it? NOPE

As someone who owns a business and hauls stuff all the time I can tell you this is absolutely useless as far as I can see based upon the pics. I can buy a van and haul more stuff without it being exposed or having to worry about rain or snow getting to the wood, drywall, tools, water heater or anything else I am hauling. It is also ugly as can be. The inside does not look to be that big. Also from the looks of the doors getting in and out or putting anything in the back wont be fun. Too much useless tech for a work vehicle. 250 miles of range is a joke lol. They say you can get one with 500+ miles but again real world vs fantasy land when it comes into productions. 7,500 Towing is fine... However, my wife's old ML pulls that as well lol. The only thing I like is the back entry. You can drive right up on it. They also say it will only be $39,000 starting. Again reality will tell the truth as will the bottom line for the business and future of the company. It is easy to talk. Numbers just do not lie. Would I trade my E class for one? No. I would not trade my work vans in for one either. I think it will be another rich mans toy like the Lincoln Pickup truck, G Wagon or anything else made for work but will never see a spec of dust lol.

Tesla just announced they have more than 130,000 pre-orders for this Tonka Toy.

This reminds me of the Hummer phenomenon. Same impractical ugliness.

Sure, it's a status symbol for some. To me, it screams "I also buy swampland." But... whatever. Everyone wants something different.

Read that press release again. These are $100 refundable pre purchase deposits. Not orders in any way shape or form. Musk oil is the king of Elixir sales.

My guess is that this truck will be extremely popular, but as a showoff car (mostly for tech celebrities) instead a working horse.

Have to say, not the best looking vehicle in the world, but I am interested to see how they do in the wild when they're released. I think highly of Elon personally......he goes for whatever it is he's doing with no restraint! I also think the window cracking at the unveiling was to generate more hype and publicity! An excellent move!

Looks like this NISSAN made MB is canceled world wide if you read between the lines where MB is not involved with redesign for 2020 model year.

My point is cant have it in USA where I live.

What they displayed is a very early prototype. It will not be the final product. There are no mirrors, no wipers, the wheels are not feasible for production, interior is not finished, NHTSA will tell them to change a lot of things. It may be available in a few years looking similar to this, but not the same.

As far as sedans and trucks not being in the same market, I would agree among current selections. I have no interest in a giant truck that guzzles gas, doesn't accelerate very quickly, and has NO handling on the road. I'd rather have an SUV to keep cargo dry, I live in FL, so it rains about 75% of days. With that said, the specs of this truck address many of my detractors: it can go 0-60 in under 4 seconds, and it can be dropped very low for better aero and handling or raised to 16 inches of clearance. I would expect with the low CG of battery vehicles, it may have decent handling similar to my E550 in low mode.

I commute a total of about 15 miles a day and have free electric chargers in my work parking lot, so electric is a good proposition for me, although I only fill my gas tank every 2-3 weeks. My main gripe with Tesla is that for a luxury priced vehicle, the interior is FARRRRRR from luxury. It's like Fisher Price inside. They want $65k for a top model 3, and the interior is like a Hyundai Accent. Also if I'm paying a premium for that performance model, I want it to look the part outside, not just like every other run of the mill mass-market mid-size car. They are Borrrrring to me. I would only be interested in a fast Model S which used to offer a premium interior option, not sure if they still do, but I rode in a P100D and was not impressed at all with the interior.

I agree with most of your statements. With regards to your gripes about Pick up trucks in general, None of those seem to apply to the Cybertruck as they have addressed all of them effectively and convincingly.
If you commute only 15 miles a day, you’re in luck. You might want to keep in mind that Elon musk has promised a solar charging panel for this vehicle which can charge up to 15 miles in a day if parked outside.
I agree about the interior of model S (older gen) and model 3 being not very premium looking. I haven’t sat in a newer model S or X.
But the minimalist interior may become the norm of mainstream automakers if they begin to see the advantages in cost and time saved. Tesla seems to have leapfrogged everyone here.
In any case it will be tough to catch Tesla on price because of the issue of non-existent third-party dealerships (which adds 15-20% in cost to any vehicle). Direct online sales are the way forward for everyone (if the laws allow it).
