This E350 just had the batteries replaced last week as we made them agree to in the contract when we bought it. I have been driving it every day this weekend and it has shut off twice. It was in the 70s yesterday and 60s today.

I am OK with this but I do wish it would let me know it was ready like the C did.
Are you certain "they" replaced the batteries? I had my main battery replaced by dealer under warranty a few months ago, and ECO went from as you describe to functioning at every stopped intersection, including while parking in the garage.

BTW, the MAIN battery is the primary souce powering the ECO Stop/Start on the 2016 model. My Aux has not been replaced yet.

Well I do have the paperwork that states:

"Replaced starter battery. Quantity 1. Part 001-982-81-08" and that part shows to be the main battery under the hood. Date on paperwork is 1/8/2020.

It seems unlikely they'd put this in writing if they did not replace it. I will say I drove the car from 12/31 to 1/8 and it never once did a stop/start. The dealer had the car from 1/8 to 1/10 and now it has done stop/start twice.

An OEM battery will have a date of manufacture sticker on the top surface. Dealers use battery inventory quickly, so yours will be dated Dec. (12/19), November at the latest.

Okay DFWdude.. must be because we were talking about it. Just after I made my last post in this thread about how little my E350 was stop/starting I went to get some food with it and it did the stop/start thing every single time.. like 8 times in a row. So I guess the other times something was not good with the parameters.

Anyone try this? I heard it works very well. At startup, it won’t automatically turn on. It keeps it off and will only go on if you turn it on.

Hopefully this is new information...

Just read this post from the W213 forum, and I'm wondering if anyone has tried this "disconnect sensor at battery" trick on our W212s? Does anyone have a picture of this sensor connector?

I assume this sensor is on the main battery (since the 213 doesn't have the trunk AUX battery). But his post doesn't say?

I recently had the cover off checking something on my W212 battery and did not see any obvious sensor.

People on car forums are so damned paranoid, though. I understood wanting it not to happen for personal preference but now people are worried about engine mounts and timing chains? Good grief. Mercedes has had issues with both of those that well pre-date any eco stop/start function.
