convert E 350 sport sedan front brakes to E 550 4 piston fixed calipers

W212 E350 fitted with oem E550 brake rotors, calipers, brembo pads & aftermarket A&N steel brake lines.
I was the Guinea Pig for V6 W212 owners, I just installed 2014-‘15 W212 E550 oem Big Brake Kit with 14.2” rotors on my 2014 E350 4Matic a few days ago. I used oem parts and everything from the E550 fits on the E350 just fine, except for the stock rubber brake hoses. You will find the E350’s brake lines are too short. Solution is go with stainless steel (Army&Navy) 18” brake lines with a 90 degree fitting where the lines attaches to the Brembo caliper. It’s a tight fit, but nothing will rub or touch if installed properly.

Now that I have foresight I probably should’ve tried the experiment with calipers from a AWD E550! I actually used calipers from a RWD CLS550. Rotor disc should be sourced from a 2014-2015 W212 E550. It seems the brakes hoses exit the calipers at different points on RWD vs AWD cars. I still was able to make the calipers work by using custom stainless steel brake lines. But it’s quite possible things would’ve ran smoother if I would’ve used Calipers sourced from a AWD car. The rotors bolt on with zero issues. My AWD original equipment E350 brake hoses were too short.

Mercedes Benz made the 4matic E550 for 2 more years after the W212 was face-lifted. From 2014-2015, after 2015 model year Mercedes discontinued the E550 “sedan” and gave us the less power E400 sedan available in 2WD and 4WD. The Coupé and Cabriolet E550 remained for 2016.
