Weights of stock E550 'AMG' wheels
So, I've been searching but haven't found any info on the 2012 E550 AMG Sport wheels. I'm curious what the construction is(cast? forged?) and how much they weigh as I have a couple dings and some very slight clearcoat flaking going on. Has anyone weighed the wheels or have any info on construction? Trying to weigh the choice of having mine refurbished, or just buying some new lighter wheels(can't afford fully forged, so looking into "rotary-forged" or "flow-formed" wheels). Trying to stay as lightweight as possible for accelerations sake so I'll be sticking with 18's.

If they are Czech-made AMG rims, that's what they are good for. I don't think it is the thickness of them that is main problem. My 2 wheels had cracks with no ding, so looks like material failure.

Ha, it never gets old. I use that wheel in the winter and have no idea what it weighs, but honestly this is a big heavy sedan and trying to shave a few pounds off of the corners for performance's sake is silly.
My summer wheel is the 19" staggered OEM E63 AMG and it is heavy as hell. Doesn't seem to stop MB from using it on their flagship E class rocket ship.

Yes, I know all about what he is up to and on a car like this that never sees a race track it’s just dumb.

Shows what you know...🤪
My quest for 11's in my comfortable, "quiet" (inside anyway...), daily driver is very real. Running low 12's now and I'm interested in shaving some rotating mass so I don't have to go catless. I will if I have to, but if I already need wheels(mine are damaged from 100k miles...), and can pick up some acceleration in the process to make my car quicker, so be it. I mean, I like being faster in my daily than my buddies in their "fun cars"(read: modified Camaros and Mustangs). In fact, I have another project that is in the research stage right now that should be worth 2-3 more tenths as well if it proves to be viable, pushing me well into the 11's. But, that is a post for another day. Thanks for the vote of confidence!
Now, anyone actually know what these things weigh???

Though, it is sounding like these are heavy, cheap, cast wheels...

Since you insist. I replaced 4 wheels, so stil have "spare hose hanger" in my pile of rims. So here is what I measure.
Czech-made AMG 18" weight 27 lb
Lorinser in same size 24 lb
16" wheel from W211 21 lb.
That done with bathroom scale, so not the best precision.
Also what I noticed, the Czech- made wheels are front heavy. Meaning lot of material on front, but skinny back.
And here is picture of crack.

27lb?!? Dayum!
Awesome, thanks for that... TSW's it is!
so, at 28-36lbs of rotating mass(7-9lbs for each wheel) is a lot, ought to make a bit of a difference in acceleration numbers.
