New rims or Paint these?

New rims or Paint these?
I have these stock rims on my 2010 e350. I'm going for a murdered out look so I want black rims. I found a guy who can powdercoat them for 300$. Is it worth powdercoating these ones for that cool sporty look? Or getting new rims altogether. I'm on a student budget so I'm just trying to figure out the best option. Just got my calipers painted red today. Do you think these will look decent black gloss powdercoated?

Personal opinions:
- Student budget and MB don't play well together when it's repair time
- Wheels are entirely subjective - it's your car, do what you like.
In my case, I liked the stock (18") rim look but not the finish, so I had mine powdercoated in a black gray/chrome finish, with the rear part of the rims in black. I also have all trim wrapped in a brushed titanium finish so I wanted something to work with the overall look of the car. Center caps were changed from the MB/blue color to MB/black color. Not everyone's preference but I like it and that's what counts.

I'd repair what you have. If you want the black look, it won't matter what style the wheels are, since you won't be able to see them from a distance, anyway. So I'd repair what you have.

Look how great Mud's turned out, on your budget I would just powder coat your wheels, especially if they are still good. You might be able to buy one new wheel for 300.

yeah they look clean! I kinda want the sporty vibe since I just got my calipers red and exhaust system so was just debating whether it's worth spending a bit more on new rims or gloss black or just powercoat these. @DFWdude So the "black look" will still look good with these wheels right? like I don't want it to seem like I'm doing a ****ty job on a nice car or people say these rims look cheap for a "sporty" vibe you know?

I think they will look great black.... I have black powder coated wheels on my Fiat. I didn't want to invest a lot of money in new wheels for my MB so I kept the OEM look and now I have wheels that look new for a lot less money.

If you are concerned about resale value, this is good advice as the buyer may want to return to the stock look.
I’ll also chime in with the other commenters about MB on a student budget. I wouldn’t try to discourage you from keeping it as it’s a wonderful car, but I would definitely try to set aside some money earmarked for repairs. Hopefully a few thousand.

Ya I was looking into this, it's like 100$ for all cans but I heard it looks cheap/rubbery in person? Also to make it gloss black I'll need to apply the finishher over the black spray. Also people say it literally peels off easily. Is it even worth the 100$?
I was also looking into spray paniting, as it may be a bit cheaper.
@ccww TBH I have a few thousand saved up for repairs ( just spent 1.5g on replacing my power steering pump and thermostat) Now I ahve to replace my front-2 tires since thehre are alot of rips. It is expensive but I might as well spend the extra money and have a car I love driving you know??
Either I powdercoat these stock for 300$ or buy new black rims which I can't find any sexy ones here in Toronto for < 180$ a rim, whhich will end up being 800$ w tax. So should I jusut wait until I'm ready to drop on new rims or paint these black for an overall black asthhetic which is what im after cuz my red caliper looks **** on these. Maybe im overthinking and these 5 spokes won't be a big deal. idk
Also, not really concerned about selling it, This will be going to my parents because i want a new AMG in like 2 years

There is absolutely nothing wrong with these stock wheels. They are unmistakedly Mercedes-Benz, appropriate for the 2010 model year, and if you have them powdercoated as Mud has, they will look great.
If that is the case -- two years is not much time -- powdercoat them as Mud has, in that exact color/finish, then enjoy it for 24 months.
I can all but assure you, your parents are not into the "murdered look" and they will have ZERO interest in black wheels, leaving you with a 12 year-old car with limited (as altered) appeal to other buyers.

Forget the black wheels. A fad that will die out then what? Plus your car won't look like an M-B it'll look like a Honda Accord. This is a classic five-spoke M-B look and is very recognizable as an M-B. If you black em out it cheapens the whole look of the car.

I found a guy who can powdercoat them for 300$
all 4 of them for $300 or each wheel?
If each wheel is 300, it's a no brainer not to look at local craigslist or this site's MarketPlace for people who wants to get rid of their old ones.
I have 17" lux model from the 2014 (4Matic). Hyperion has 3 sets of HREs he wants to sell. See which one fits your budget.
else, of the $300 is for all 4 wheels - that's the best you could now.

I do have some HRE R43, 18's for 500 bucks plus shipping if you're interested. I've powder coated wheels before and was happy with the outcome. Mine were satin.
GL to ya!
