robbery

I got a quote for my BC service and a price for 4 new tires at the Mercedes dealership I have gone to for 25 years. They got bought out and are now under new ownership and management and it has become a ridiculous place to take a car to for maintenance. Quote was $1600!!! Does this sound ridiculous? So I went to an independent Mercedes Benz authorized shop and walked out only paying $700. Not going back to this particular Mercedes dealership EVER again.

There's a lot of difference and it's an exorbitant one . Well, it's what it is let's say you own a high end Swiss Made watch and when you send it for a maintenance they will charge $$$ over an independent watchmaker as well. However, what is weird is that new ownership and management must be responsible for this quote . They didn't do a "friendship" quote or for your loyalty instead they seemed to treated you like a new comer customer .

Sounds about right, I never go to dealerships for anything but recall work.

What's the BC service? For reference, my dealership charges $550 for transmission service and $575 for spark plugs. I don't use them but I'm not sure that price is outrageous, either. I never buy tires at a dealer and do the filters myself.

You got a service and tires for $700? I guess it depends entirely on the quality of the tires. I just paid nearly a thousand dollars for new Michelins installed on my E class. I shopped Costco, Tire Rack, and my local tire chain. I once owned a tire store and know I paid a reasonable price.

B/C service is an oil change, an alignment, windshield wiper container refilled, and a cabin filter to be replaced.>>>>> NO transmission flush, NO spark plug changes, NO anti-freeze flush. <<<<< The tires I bought were brand new Continentals. I bought them because this is what came on the car. I got 60,000 miles out of them and decided to stick with them.

Cheapest new ContiProcontact (OEM) tires I could find was $760.00 without tax. You worked some magic there. Congrats

Depends if he has the 17 or the 18 inch tires. The 17 inch tires are cheaper.

You aren't telling us that you got the above service plus a new set of tires for $700 are you?

Sounds like a B service with an alignment added on. All this and new tires for $700 is a hell of a deal. I don't think you could get anything but a "Sport" trim W212 for 2016 unless you special ordered, which means you must be running the squared 18" setup? 245 something all around? My 2016 has the AMG rims and staggered and there is no way these OE continentals will last anywhere close to 60k.

Copy of the quote would save us lot of confusion.
The only new MB we ever bought was 1998 ML320.
Hold the receipt for 1st service who cost me $78 back in 1999. Mind MB was using dino oils at the time.
Still leaves your eye wet.

Have them price match it with Costco with the free balancing/rotation, flat repair and road hazard.

I had a local indy shop say the same thing, then I pointed out that price I posted earlier and he said he couldn't price match it because it was lower than what he paid. I think the tire chains are better at price matching, they do it to maintain volume even if they don't really make much money on it.

Correction: $865 total. >>>>>>>>I got all 4 tires at my go-to tire store with free patching warranty ( if needed) for $650....>>>>>>...Then the service for $215 at a very reputable high end auto shop that I've tried in the past and I was never disappointed. I was trying to patronize my MB dealership but double charging for this is ridiculous. Therefore I went back to the shop that doesn't gouge me.

What I bought for the tire situation is a spin-off of a Cooper tire (can't remember the name at this moment). I got 65,000 miles out of them and I actually could've gone another 5K but I don't like to chance it. They are noise free, they are very smooth handling and I rotate them about 3 times in that same period. Heck, if I had not of looked and checked the tires I would never had known they were getting kinda slick on the rears as they still were quiet and balanced.

lol 4 tires mounted and balanced is a minimum of atleast 1k , and the additional 600 for the services are fair considering it’s being done at the dealer . I would say that’s a fair quote .

I have to ask the question as to why the story keeps changing? The posting began with a $700 price for tires and then later is modified to $865. What was the real number? One post the new tires were factory original Continentals and then they transformed into some kind of Cooper off-shoots. One post was one shop walking out at $700 and then that became two separate shops to buy the tires and get the service. Then there is the preposterous story of running the original tires to 65,000 miles. I have had a number of E Class Mercedes and never anything close to that.

If you read the entire thread, the OP has no credibility. What was he actually trying to prove?

Still scratching my head as well. Alignment and filter included from the Indy or did that get left out also?

The credibility is there. I admitted my original quote jumped up a bit, (around $150 or so). I've been a Benz owner for over 25 years and I've been off/on this forum for many, many years. I also own a 2019 S560 so I know what the F*** I'm talking about. Just because some minor tweaks were made since my original post doesn't mean I have no credibility. Here's the final comments from me about this. I got all of the BC service at a MB, Audi, BMW shop for approx. $200 and I got all 4 tires for $626 dollars. I just got home from the tire deal. Over HALF of what the stealership quoted. I guess I'll stick to the S class forum since most of you are being asses.
