Cracked arm rest

Considering a W212 that has cracking on the arm rest. Is it possible to just replace the arm rest itself, or does the whole console have to be replaced?

The dealer replaced one of the two covers on mine under warranty (without replacing the whole console). So I assume you can get just the part you need.

Not sure how dealer replaced only one MB does not offer part separately. Need VIN to supply correct part # including color code.

Oh my. I stand corrected. The dealer SA didn't take the extra time to tell me they replaced everything.

Looks like that could be an expensive part.. but if the rest of the car is perfect and exactly what you want, I wouldn't let it stop me.

You could also check with the service advisor regarding repair options. Before the E400, I drove a Lexus LS430 -- 15 years and 157K miles of it. About half way through that time span, the driver's arm rest (on door panel) cracked and tore. Since it was no longer a "late model" car, the service department offered to have their "vinyl guy" repair the armrest. It took two tries to get it to my satisfaction for surface and color match, but for years after that repair, and even when I sold the car, the repair was fine. Invisible, couldn't feel it, stayed fixed. Only cost me $125, compared to something like $700 for a new panel, too.

If that the only thing wrong... $500-700 part, peanuts in the scheme of things or use it in negotiation.

just keep checking eBay for salvage part, gray leather is much harder to find so it could take some times for the right one to pop up, but they're going for well below $200 so it's worth it,
if you're really lucky you may even come across just one of the cover for sell for under $100

That's a great suggestion. It'd be easier and cheaper than replacing the whole thing.
