2015 E400 Headlights question

Hello, I am going to be a new owner of pre-owned 2015 E400(certified) and first timer to Mercedes. I happened to look up to see what bulbs are needed for low/high beams should they need to at some point later. I only got links that point to replace the whole assembly but nothing mentioned about bulbs so far. If I ever need to deal with the low or high beam headlights, is it going to be replacing the whole housing which appears to be priced at 2k each side ? Appreciate your input . Makes me think if I should take a chance with LED trim or think of something else. 2K per side is ridiculous to those who are not used to this type of replacement. Thanks for your input.

Don't bother with a W212 facelift (14-16 models) unless you're getting the full LED package. I understand saving a few grand to avoid them when new, but in a used model they add little to the price and are one of the most important and best aspects of the car.

My 2016 has the full LED package. It is possible that a control module can be replaced separately, I believe, should something happen. But yes you do have to replace these units if something goes wrong with the LEDs themselves.

I just had a collision with a deer and shattered one of mine. The cost to replace for my insurance company is listed at $2,200 on the bill. So yes, they're expensive.

If you're buying CPO, have you been offered the 2 year extension? We got it for $2100 and ours is covered until 10/2023.

Thank you both for the replies. I am being given one year CPO warranty and offered one more year for 2300 or 2800 for two more years. You got yours at pretty low price. I'll check if I can buy from any dealer that offers lower price (if that works).

The LED should last the life of the car so no need to replace the bulbs as there isn't any. If you have the dynamic LEDs, they're around $1700 online, the regular ones are about $800. You could probably get used ones on eBay if you ever needed to or from a junkyard. But yeah, Mercedes headlights have always been expensive, I think my W211 used to be around $1500 for the bixeon headlamps and I believe those were around in 2003.

Also of note you can't just buy a new one of the dynamic LEDs on eBay and pop it in. It has to be coded in.

But that all being said, we don't see much trouble from these. They're made by Hella and were in use starting in 2014 cars (lots built in 2013) and so they're not all spring chickens.

Thank you all for the replies. I replied yesterday but don't know what made it not eligible to be posted yet. I was saying you got your CPO at really good price. Since the one I am looking is 2015, they are offering one year free warranty and offering another year for 2300 or 2800 for 2 years. But since the maximum warranty being offered by MB is going to be 7 years/ 100k miles, wondering I may be able to get only 1 year along with one free year. But based on your other comments in another thread about whether 'to buy or not buy', and I being new to MB, looks it is still worth investing in CPO for these vehicles.
