I have 2010 E350 with ruined engine and I was wondering how hard would it be to replace it by myself. I love my car i never had any issues with it until I hit bottom of my car and seized my engine. Any help is greatly appreciated.

presumably, a 2010 is the older M272 engine ? for simplest transplant you'd want to find a donor vehicle with the /exact/ same version motor (272.xxx, the xxx should be the same as yours), and in that case, its probably a matter of disconnecting everything from the engine, unbolting the engine mounts, hooking the engine to a hoist, unbolting it from the transmission, then lifting the whole thing out, and install in reverse. if its a 4matic, its probably more complicated.
swapping in a different version motor, you'd need to transplant the harness and control modules along with the engine, and probably reprogram the car's other modules to be happy with it.... that recoding part can get pretty tricky, there's like a 8 data buses and 100 different computers in these cars that all have to work together harmoniously
Hmmm... You could get a long block (block + head) and fit all the sensors/ancillaries to that and you should be good to go. ECU wouldn't know the difference. If you have the space, time and patience it's do-able - those are key though, you don't want to be rushed or pressed for time because there will be 'while you're in there' stuff that comes up, and you'll undoubtedly need some additional parts that will be on backorder. Ask me how I know...
Thanks for quick responses I really appreciate it. I have time, big shop and lot of tools. I was concerned that I would have to do some computer stuff but it looks like if I get exact engine I should be able to do it.

+1. I'm not sure what you mean exactly when you say "hit the bottom and seized my engine" but you may be able to reuse the head. Although if you can get the longblock and not have to mess with the head gasket, that may be easier.
my son managed to do that in Death Valley with my old Volvo 850 T wagon, but he was able to score some JB Weld from some jeepers that came by, and managed to cobble a beer can patch over it, lasted 2 years. I'd *TOLD* him not to take that car off road, but did he listen? of COURSE not.
Replacing an engine in an E-Class (at least W211 and up) is as easy as you can get. Even the A/C stays put and you don't have to deal with evac and re-charge. On the computer note - that is a big deal. The Engine ECU and Trans TCU are married. You want to keep your old ECU and re-use or have access to SCN to code.

ahh, I only have one boy.... he's 30, and has his PhD and is being quite successful as a geology researcher, currently doing a postdoc research project at Oxford and cranking out research papers in his field of Neotectonics. https://scholar.google.com/citations...WiAAAAAJ&hl=en
just before he flew back to the UK he was building this expedition camper, built on a F550 Ford 6.7 powerstroke diesel 4x4 chassis cab/utility truck. camper is all aluminum on a mig welded 2" 6061-T6 box section frame he designed and built.
(work in progress, it still needs its 39" or 42" Super-Singles, and the interior isn't finished, but not bad for 3 months of spare time. truck has a 19000 lb GVWR, but he's hoping he can derate it to 15000 or 16000 lbs, so he can use 'F' tires instead of 'G', kinda of depends on its final weight once finished).
our other spawn is his younger sister. she's 25, and is a free spirit, loves music and dogs and the wilderness, has her BS but doesn't really know what she wants, loves to do long distance thru-hiking. currently living in Tennessee so she can hike the Appalachians, after 10+ years of hiking the western mountains

You have done well. Yes it's the smart ones that are the "independent" thinkers. My son has worked all over the world as a chief engineer on Megayachts.
