I get that the shifter stalk thingy is non intuitive, but I feel like damaging my transmission over and over is a high price to protect against the outside chance that I get out of my car and wander off with it in gear.

I assume the dealer would consider it safety and not want to code it out, but was wondering if anyone who had STAR developer mode access could do so?Anyone else as annoyed by this as I am?
I thought it wouldn't go into park unless the vehicle is at a full stop?!?

Oh no... Park can be triggered below 5MPH.

It becomes a serious disaster when the door switch built into the networked door latch becomes increasingly more unreliable.
Car wants to slam P every time speed crosses 5MPH

Yup exactly, and that ticking noise when you accidentally (for some reason) engage Park at such speeds of the parking pawl trying to slot in is scary too.

I like that feature and it's for enhancing the safety to me . PSA now Stellantis branded vehicles namely French cars have an amusing warning tone when you open the door and if the car is not the P . Yes, those vehicles won't shift into P like Mercedes-Benz cars do but what Mercedes-Benz assign definitely a safety feature and could prevent some incidents as well
