disabling the "door open park" feature?

disabling the "door open park" feature?
I have searched around and not seen any answer to my issue. Has anyone managed to disable the "feature" where the car slams itself into park if you open the door while rolling? I open my door while reversing into my spot at work, while lining up for the car wash, and while checking side clearance in my driveway. I get that the shifter stalk thingy is non intuitive, but I feel like damaging my transmission over and over is a high price to protect against the outside chance that I get out of my car and wander off with it in gear.
I assume the dealer would consider it safety and not want to code it out, but was wondering if anyone who had STAR developer mode access could do so?

it will automatically shift to park if you open the door with a bright red dash warning just as he said. This issue has come up several times and no one has ever posted a way to defeat it. Sorry

Open the door, let it go into park, then while door is open, shift into R again.
I'll never forget the time a tech did that in the service bay with another customers car.......that sheit was so cringe worthy

I hate that feature. One time I was coasting to a stop and opened the door to pull my safety belt that got caught in the door and before I knew what happened I almost left my front teeth on the steering wheel

I don't have a W212 and know nothing about them!
I had a 2016 GLC that did this and also used to do the same if the passenger door was opened before coming to a complete stop. After the first service at 12 months the car no longer did it. I mentioned it to the dealer at a later date and was told that an update had been applied at the first service and that may have changed the feature.
Probably worth enquiring about such an update from your dealer.

Open the door while in drive, THEN shift into reverse.
You get roll away warning but you can drive.
I learned this last week, only had the car 2 weeks tho.

I thought it wouldn't go into park unless the vehicle is at a full stop?!?

I sold my W212 a while ago but if IIRC, you can't shift into park while the car is moving.
However, if you open the door, it immediately slams the car into park.

If you watch the shift indicator on the IC you will see what gears the transmission will "allow" given current conditions. For example, reverse is unavailable (as is park) when you're rolling forward at 60mph. When you're going slowly, park becomes available at a defined speed - maybe 5mph? I haven't paid enough attention to know the exact speed. At any rate, I wonder if that defined speed at which Park is available can be redefined to "zero", thus eliminating the possibility of the car putting itself into park when it is rolling.

I also made this same mistake on a previous MB again with the column shifter. I forgot how I made such a mistake but it must be a bad reason as why was I touching the column shifter stalk when driving.
