Navigation map update?
Hi MB gurus,
I have E350 - 2013 with currently navigation map v8 (2012/2013) version and would like to update it to possible latest ver and wondering if I can get some directions here for available options? I called MB dealer but they said they no longer support map update for 2013.
If there is any other way to connect/mirror google map or waze map since there is no apple car play, this would also work for me if any possibility.
Thank you

Well I suppose I took somewhat of a risk not buying from the dealer but to date I have no issues. I used the USB option which required that they provide a access code for installation. I have never been totally satisfied with updates for my car as they never seem to be as current as a Garmin or WAZE. I do like things in my car to work so I try to keep the in dash system working. Moreover the price from the dealer irks me no end especially when they charge for installation which is a no brainer.

Edit: Ok, they offer NGT45, north america, which is supposed to be the 2020 V20 version for 2012-2015. It's in my shopping cart now. Might hit the checkout button tomorrow when there's not a solid bourbon (neat) involved with my typing skilz.I'll report back if I pull the trigger.

That front page screams "I'm from China". But I'll explore it to see what they have to offer.

One thing no one tells you is the code is “lifetime” there’s only one code per vin. So really you pay once and have the map updates for the future years (if there’s any more)

Do not go to mbnavupdate . It will not update the map. The file will be name 2019 whatever year is current they will not update it. It's fake. I got bit by it, and had to go to the dealer.

All I can say is it worked for me (the license code) but downloading the map data took a long time.

Registered an account. I'm able to set up my account details (user name, password, email address) but every other link I click on presents a page saying "Error 404 page not found".
So far the site codefastbuy.com is something of a disappointment. Hopefully ml3504matic can shed some light on the error of my ways.

Ok, I dropped the $75 to codefastbuy.com and got a code delivered via email. Even installed their app on one of my devices, but found or saw nowhere to either download the map file or put in a code to light up something overlooked. What am I missing here? There's gotta be something. I used to think I was pretty good at computers...

You’ll need a PC to download the maps
download this software if you haven’t already

youll need usb stick as well, formatted with nothing on it. i believe the usb stick needs to be USB 2.0 and at least 32GB? don’t remember.
it will take quite sometime for the maps to be installed onto the USB (took me a few hours)
feel free to PM me, we can possibly skype if you need help!
i’m not affiliated with them but don’t mind helping

When you go to the dealer for map updates, they’re really just making 100% off of you after you pay them the first time. The license is vin specific and there’s only one per vin. the license can be used on all map versions. just your fyi

as long as the android or iphone is plugged in via USB2, its in control of the car's screen, and you use the car knob to control the phone.

For some reasons the latest MB updated do not cover new streets and freeways build in last 6 years. Pretty upsetting.
When I like car GPS for convenience, going to new areas I use google maps on my android. I preload the map using home Wi-FI and it will give me traffic info for no additional cost.
Google maps are the best there is, when the convenience of car GPS would cost me $150 for (questionable) update and $4 monthly for traffic.

Google maps and other cell based systems are great until you're rural with zero coverage. I've got CoPilot on my phone as a last resort. It updates often enough to be more current than a typical car nav system) and it has pretty much all of North America on it. I don't think Mexico is included.
But on a more relevant, car navigation related note: I took a gamble and after much angst pulled the trigger on downloading the map and activation code for $99 from www.navi-expert.com (a Russian site) and hoped for the best. The best happened: North America downloaded to my computer in a couple of hours and the activation code matched what I spent $75 for earlier in this thread (Education isn't free, ya know). Unzipped the 18GB file into roughly 19 GB, followed the emailed, nicely detailed set of instructions and dropped the relevant files onto a clean USB2 thumb drive formatted to FAT32, plugged it in to the USB port in the center console, and 80 minutes later had NTG 4.5 V20 (2020) loaded in the COMAND.
Long story short: $99 plus a paypal fee ($114.99 total) updated me from 2013 to 2020 without a hitch. Evgeny sold me what I intended to buy and was very clear on how to use what he sold me.

with google maps, when you DO have internet connectivity, you can pre-load all the maps for a region and they will be available offline for several months. you can load a number of these regions, limited by how much storage your phone has.

That assuming you know how to operate your android. So far I am able to download the maps for the trip, so it will work without internet, but if by accident I close the app, the detailed map is gone and I only have main roads recognized.

its best to do this somewhere that has a good high speed download as a large area map can take like 300-400MB. you also can name each of these offline areas
