OE TUNING or Tunes?
Hello! I have an 2011 e350 4matic sport sedan. I was thinking about getting the OE tune for this car today. Any suggestions or things I should know before buying? Much appreciated.

to be honest I’m not looking for speed or anything. I just notice I need or hope to get a better throttle response. When I hit the gas I notice my car takes a little time to start moving but as for what it does not much that I know of. Just looking to make the car more responsive... that’s what my hopes are with a tune.

Maybe look into the pedal commander for your model. They are on sale. It will increase your pedal response and avoids the expense of a tune on an engine that you won't notice much when tuned.

huh, when driving in slow-n-go traffic kinda conditions, I wish the low end of the throttle on my E350 was a little more progressive, less aggressive.

I'm sending my ECU to these guys:
https://www.kleemann.dk/kleemann-usa/
I inquired and they responded here:
"Our ECU tune for your 2013 E350 sells for $1295.00 and will take power from 302 to about 325-330 on USA pump fuel. We also revise throttle mapping and remove the top speed limiter. The ECU must be removed and sent to our USA HQ for programming and I can typically get the ECU turned around the same day it arrives, as long as it comes in before noon local time.
If you have any other questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to let me know.
Thanks again!

You’re spending over a thousand dollars for an extra 20 horsepower on an e350? Why?

I'm sea level. My money is on closer to 30/30 wheel. I'll have before and after numbers by this summer.

making the throttle more aggressive is mostly a lost cause;. you make the car harder to drive without any real resuilts.

Pretty sure Vladimir told me he could tune the M276 to 322hp/296tq for significantly less than $1295 but I don't really remember now.

You mostly learn to drive around it, but I do miss those old numb throttles of the Benzes of yore sometimes.

Edit: I see you have a 2013 E350. So this was a change for the facelift, apparently.

The above is the best advice so far.
Seriously, try resetting the the TCU/ECU first.
I added a Stage-1 OE Tuning to my M278 and it really woke the car up. In sport mode it took some time getting acclimated to the throttle as it's almost like driving on ice the pedal is so receptive to input.
I just looked at the OE website and a tune and a tune for your car is $900 with the MyGenius flash loader. Claimed gains are 23HP/23/TQ, which is not much; 6 bottles of McCallan 15-year might be a better investment.

As said above, 1st gear is so short this just results in a quick-but-not-always-smooth upshift to 2nd gear.
You can use the shift paddles and select 2 at a stop and it will start off that way. Much, much smoother.

well, the 6 cyl W124's were all start-in-2nd until the 1993-1995 versions, with the same basic 4 speed slushbox as the earlier models, started in 1st. the start-in-2nd cars, if you give them a lot of pedal at a stop, will go 2-1-2 which is really stupid. if at the full stop, you put the shifter in 2, then 3, they'll start in 1st.
