E550 MPG gauge inaccurate
I've got a `16 e550 (coupe) and I've noticed (through tracking my mileage and gas consumption via a smartphone app) that the center cluster MPG gauge is off by about 2 - 2.5 mpgs
I reset it after every fill-up to full and it doesn't matter if the driving has been all highway, all city, or a mix. It is consistently off.
Does anyone else experience this?
Is there an easy fix for this or do you guys just live with it?
This is off in my E350 as well - as a matter of fact, it has been consistently off in every car I've ever owned with such a feature.
You'll have to live with it.

One might think the method to calculate this is pretty cut-and-dried, and that the manufacturers could create accurate formulas... if it wanted to...

that was the main reason i was so surprised when the E550's was so off

I do not have access to non-ethanol fuel where I live.
As said above, all of my cars have been about 10% off consistently. They've also each had their tanks where the gauge was nearly spot on. Too many variables.

So looking at my record, the typical error is when the car shows. 37.9 mpg, the calculated real is 35.9
So yes 2 mpg difference it is, but that on long way cruising.
Driving in the city the error comes down to 1 mpg.
I read on other forum that you can adjust the readings, but it never bother me that much.

In southern Louisiana non-ethanol is plenty available. Used to be some individual stations but now even Murphy USA has it.

As others have noted, it's difficult to find non-ethanol in premium octane in N. Texas. I imagine I could find non-ethanol fuel here if I wanted to look. Maybe it will even be 91-octane. But I won't burn a full gallon (or more) to drive that far to get it.

Google is your friend. Not sure the search gained correct results, but it is a start.

Valero stations carry non-ethanol for Regular grade. My C320 runs on mid-grade, but in my experience, Mercedes-Benz's hate regular grade. Moving on...
