Sold my W212
I don’t know what’s next, but it’s not a Mercedes.. not for now, maybe in the future. The W212 is an awesome car, but I was annoyed with some minor issues mine was having - and the value had taken a serious hit after the run in with the deer last year left it with almost $14,000 in damage. So out of boredom yesterday, I had it appraised by Carmax. Even with all the body work, they offered $8,000 more than they appraised it after the accident repair (when I had it appraised by them fighting about diminished value). They paid only a bit more than a grand less than I paid for the car in December of 2019!
Couldn’t say no. When this weird market corrects, the car would have plummeted again. And we don’t need a second car for now.
I hope to hang around, but who knows.
happy motoring

I sold my 2014 E250 Bluetec today as well.
For 12% of its original price, but with 184 k miles.
What sweetens the deal that with current settlement MB USA will send me about $3000 reimbursement check.
We keep 2nd E250 and don't plan to replace it till self-driven cars will become standard.

Great time to sell just about any car. Sold my GT350 for what I paid for it 3 years ago brand new. Unfortunately, not a good time to buy a used car for the same reasons.

And you might get bored again, and buy another Mercedes...

I sold my 2012 E350 sport with 135,000 miles on it to CarMax last month and got $10,000 but a few years back I wanted to sell my 2005 CLK 500 cabriolet with 75,000 miles and they offered me only $4,000. Needless to say I said no.
I think it’s a crap shoot with selling a car to them

This was the second car we sold to Carmax. The first one was a 2015 Q50. We bought it in 2018 for $27k and sold it back to Carmax 6 months later for $26k because I absolutely despised it. So far, we've had good luck.

Yes, most Nissan's suck, unless you can get them really cheap, you mentioned you were getting into real estate, best of luck! I sold two houses in the last few years, market in Arizona is very hot, also sold in San Francisco for a great profit, as I have zero reason to go back despite having interests in Madera and Stockton.
Texas and Florida are booming as well as people flee the blue states, lumber prices aside, remodels are doing well in all the red states.
Either way, I'm thinking the same about my '13, it's getting close to 80k and I'm worried the big repairs are just around the corner. Maybe I'll find a Carmax.
Wishing you and your family all the best!

After reading lots of posts in here it seems the 20120 - 2011 and maybe some 2012 are the best build E-Class. It seems the quality dropped a bit with younger cars. And the E550 before turbo is just an awesome engine. Wish OI had the same in my S550 but I don't. There is a lot of power in the Twin turbo but so is there in the NA model too..
My E is never going to be sold. It has been rock solid and I just couldn't get rid of it.

Yes, Madera county, you mentioned you went to school in that area, University of the Pacific? Great school I hear, My son- in- laws's brother went there. Things are changing for me and it's time I get out of all the projects I'm involved in, trying to retire. I have no idea where or when, but soon. I always thought it would be to that area, I have lot's of family and friends there, but it's just too crazy now. I'm just getting tired of the salt, snow and cold.

Wow, my uncle ran the California homebuilders association out of the Modesto area, Joe Melchior. I bet your family kew him or of him with all that acreage. All seven of his children still reside in the area.

That would only be slightly preferable to walking.
All jokes aside, I don't know if I'll buy another Mercedes at any point - but I can guarantee with 100% certainty that it will never, ever be a W213. The interior of the W213 is the ugliest interior (to my eyes) of any car I've ever seen.
My husband tells me - and he's probably correct - that I need a car that can always be new as even minor issues get under my skin, and one that I can also walk away from for any reason and at any time. He's suggesting we sign up for Care by Volvo, and I'm considering it. My best friend's son is an engineer at Volvo in South Carolina, and she gets a new Volvo every year under a similar plan. This year it's a V60 Cross Country and I like it. Financially that kind of thing makes little sense, and I'm sure Dave Ramsey would not approve - but I've never paid off any car I've had anyway. So I am thinking about it.

I know three people who have Volvos on that program, they all love it. Not a bad choice at all, pretty sure even the Maintenance/insurance is included? Anyways they pay around 6-700 a month all in.

Ignoring the cosmetics, I was turned off the W213 by A) runflats, and B) no non-turbos. Finding a low mileage white 2016 wagon with the 'luxury' package and beige interior hit all our hot points (wife insisted on white/beige, and we both preferred the luxury ride over the sport). It took quite a while to find this, ended up buying a CPO car sight unseen from the dealer in Santa Fe NM (we're in Santa Cruz, CA) and having it shipped.

one word: PANDEMIC
this was just before the vaccines came available. being in our mid 60s, we were in full hunker down and social isolation mode. no way in H___ would you get me on a plane. we did toy with driving there with our camper trailer, then caravanning back, but my wife doesn't like driving that kinda long distances, and especially doesn't like driving the F250 towing the camper (she once jackknifed a trailer when its brakes failed, it scares her to death)

- 15k miles a year or 1250 per month since you can return it after 4 months
- Insurance through Liberty Mutual
- Road hazard tire and wheel protection
- Maintenance
- $1000 waiver for "excess" wear - interior damage, large dents/dings, windshield damage, etc.
Decided to give this a try since we can change our mind after 4 months. Ordered a blue XC40 T5 R-Design on Wednesday. Got the VIN yesterday. Delivery expected in 1-2 weeks. They load them up.. the starting price of the XC is something like just under $34k but the subscription cars are built to about $47k. Every package offered is included, as is the standalone Harman/Kardon sound system.

We had Volvo sedan for 14 years as family car.
But once you start driving Mercedes, you don't want to go back.

what I dislike about all the new Volvos, they are FWD-centric, even if they are AWD. The driving dynamics are just all wrong. Last RWD Volvo was the 960/S90/V90
