Fuel door won’t close
Hey guys, I ran into an issue with the fuel door on my 2011 E350 sedan. The small magnet on the inside right hand side of the fuel door (allows for press action opening and closing of fuel door) came loose as I was opening the fuel door to get gas. Just my luck, the tiny magnet piece happened to fall into a tiny pinky finger-sized hole next to where the gas nozzle would go, and it appears to go down inside the car. Has this happened to anyone before? Is there any chance of getting the magnet out of there? If not, what is the name of the part for the magnet so I can replace it? I’ve been searching everywhere and can’t find any mention of a similar situation or the name of the fuel door magnet. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My E53 fuel door has trouble staying closed after a gas stop. Can anyone offer advice on why and how to correct it? The gas attendants work at it for a while and it finally stays shut.

My son lives in Mendham, so this has happened to me a few times there when we visit.

Sometimes the gas cap tether gets tangled up and the door won't close well, being in Jersey with full service this could be the issue, the attendants should of figured this out by now though as there are lots of Benz's and no-one pumps their own gas there.
