Opinion needed: 2014 E550 4Matic Value
Hi all:
I am thinking about selling my 14 E550 4Matic. I just don't drive it enough. Bought in Jan 2020 with 75,000 miles from the Bay Area, CA.
Currently car has 80,500 Miles. Cardinal Red, with black interior, black ash trim. All dealer service, every receipt since new, all literature from new, sales sticker and sales slip. I purchased from the original owner. Car is perfect. No dents, one scratch about 1.5" long by 1/32" wide on bumper. Michelin Pilot Pros, 70% life. Always garaged.
Options:
Black Ash interior
Deck Spoiler
Comfort Box
Heated cooled black leather interior
Pass through/ folding rear seats
Wood wheel
Keyless Go
Premium 1
Blind spot assist/lane assist
LED adaptive headlights
Since I have owned:
Fully tinted all windows with ceramic tint (not shown in picture)
Added clear bra to door edges, bumper top and door pockets (to prevent scratches)
Replaced engine mounts, transmission mount
Replaced rear sunshade
Replaced heating/cooling blower motor
Replaced radiator
Replaced parking brake assembly
Replaced driver master window switch
Replaced Command knob assembly
I have (not installed) E63 Facelift Rear valance, e63 AMG mufflers, E63 19" multi-spoke wheels.
What's it worth? I'd prefer to sell to an enthusiast. Not set on selling it, just considering....
Thanks, Ian

Nice and rare E550 4M. A unicorn. I don’t see full LED headlights and no 360 cam or Distronic plus? My MSRP was about $78K, and I have 61,000 miles. I think my car is worth about $26-7K in today’s crazy market. Maybe you are around $24K? Get an estimate from Carvana or Vroom.

I have the 319 Package Full LED and adaptive highbeam. No full 350 degree cam, does not have distronic-plus.
I got an estimate from Carvana as a starting point... $19k so meh. I was thinking $23-$24k. Probably wouldn't include the AMG goodies for that price though. Dunno. Thanks Key.

Obviously retail and wholesale are way different, but I think 19k is low, retail is as you suspect, dealers want to make 4-5k so I think 21k trade in and 24k private party seems about right. Just my 2 cents, I've been getting numbers around 14k for my '13 E350 4matic with 79k, I have P2, AMG package and 5k in additional options, dealer serviced with extended warranty up until last year, car looks new in and out despite being 8 years old, go figure.

a modified car is generally worth less than a totally stock car, so I'd plan on selling that AMG trim stuff separately and don't even mention it in the 4sale adverts for the car. my long term experience is, folks who do mods on cars, often drive them harder, putting more wear and tear on them, this is especially true for wheel and suspension and performance mods.

Carvana and similar sites will give you an instant value and offer. Buyers will do that, so you are competing against it. Mods add no value 99% of the time, and in some cases reduce value. Mods reduce the pool of potential buyers, because some people won’t touch a modded car.
You very well may find the perfect buyer, it likely will take quite a bit longer than it would to sell it for a market price to the first person that hands you a stack of cash or cashier’s check.

There are rarely more than a dozen 2014 E550’s for sale nationwide on Autotrader at any given moment in time. Your color is also very rare and may be just what a buyer is looking for. They may pay up for that choice, and this could be the wild card that gets your price. I also agree with all of the mod responses, and I would sell the AMG bumper and exhaust parts.

if its a really cherry car? rare color? bringatrailer! take a *TON* of GOOD photos, excellent lighting, well composed, show ALL aspects of the vehicle in excruciating detail, then let the bidding begin. OTOH, maybe a 2014 is too new for that, which does tend to slant towards classic and vintage cars.
I've done OK selling (and buying) cars on craigslist but you have to be ready to put up with scammers and flakes. and I'm in a area with a massively active CL,

I would list it on Autotrader. I just sold my Shelby GT350 on Autotrader in 3 days. I had buyers coming out of the woodwork. The ad was $49 and you can post lots of photos and no limit on the write up. Bring a Trailer isn't the right place for this car. The listings for these 2014 models is so limited, I'm sure you'll sell very quickly.

One of the best ads I’ve seen on here. It will go quickly with your complete and informative listing. Good luck!
