Hi guys , just joined the forum ,wondering if anyone has the same noise from the engine bay during the cold start, I own 2013 E350 m276 75K miles ,ticking always starts 30-40 seconds after the cold start and increases if i hit the gas pedal ,it stops after reaching temperature around 60 °C , usually takes a minute or so , drives fantastic though no CE light. I took the car to local MB dealership and left it overnight , they were suspecting the chain tensioners at first but after checking on cold in the morning they said it's normal and the noise is probably from HPFP , What's your opinion guys could it still be chain related problem ? .
sounds exactly the same https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PyC...jmcxfsEzI/view
I checked the attached audio track . I never have that rattle upon start up , so does that exclude the timing chain related problem ? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PyC...jmcxfsEzI/view noise begins at 0:45 , 40 secs after engine start .Like loud diesel engine sound , goes away in a minute .
Direct injection engines, such as the M276 that you own, sound a bit like diesels when running. The reason is the high fuel injection pressures and the high pressure pumps required.
