In case you wonder about threaded bucket holding the spare - once I had close call, when during a rain in California, on slight freeway turn couple of cars decided to take the divider wall and 1 of them skidding sideways hit it with the trunk.
The spare that pop up from the trunk was bouncing up and down on the freeway for couple hundreds feet and one of the bounces was 1/2 lane from me.
I never panic, but had sweaty back for another mile.
