Locking Chirp(s)?

Was wondering since I'm aware the W212 shares a lot of parts with the W204s and W221's which can enable this feature, is it possible to code this locking feedback onto a 2014 E350? I know on previous models you were able to enable the "USA" or "Netherlands" toggle in the Rear SAM in STAR or Xentry, but I'm just wondering if the alarm is the same "hardware" that was capable of producing these chirps..

Before anyone chimes in about the "acoustic horn" setting in the vehicle menu, that's just the horn.

I saw a thread somewhere where the guy figured out that there had been a supplier issue for a few years of the W212 for the chirping mechanism, so they had reverted to the horn. He actually went through and added the equipment back and got it to act like the w211, but I don't remember the thread or what was involved unfortunately. My W211 sounds so much better locking and unlocking than my W212, which reminds me of a ford.

Makes sense, could it be as simple as an alarm retrofit? I know the 203 alarms had a battery in them, interestingly, possibly to give the chirps power when the car cuts main power to it after several hours? Whatever the case, yeah, I'd rather my car sound pleasing to the ears and European, rather than sounding like a Taurus or a Chevy Impala when I lock it.

Thanks for the input, DubVBenz, going to scour the boards a bit and see if I can't dig anything else up.

I like that mine is silent and just blinks the lights (and folds the mirrors for additional confirmation)

It's an option to have the horn make noise or not. I went digging and could not find the retrofit thread I was talking about, but it looks like the 2010s had the chirp and it was the horn from 2011+. If anyone does find that thread, please share.

You are correct. My first MB was a 2011 E350 and it had the horn giving a triple signal when locking the car. I traded for a 2010 E550 and it has the triple chirp.

My 2013 S550 has a horn but it honks only ones, not three times like the 2011 E350 did. It blinks the light three times though.
