Mercedes E200 W212 Facelift
Installing Original Ambient Lighting in W212

Hello! I’m new here! Nice to be a part from the community!

I have an e200 w212 2015 and It doesn’t have the option “Ambient Lightning”, so my question is.. Is it possible to install that option with original Mercedes parts and what parts will I need, what coding will I need and etc.

Thank you!

It is not impossible to add missing OEM options but it is a seriously involved process with Vediamo, Xentry and WIS... did I forget any tool?

If you're up for it, find an existing project and go through it before developing your own custom recipe

If you like quick improvements, ping BenzNinja to see what magics he can work for your systems.

Yes you can. First, go check underneath your wood trim under the door panels/dash and see if there is a clear LED tubing. There is a 2012-2014 CLS owner that had no ambient lighting, and he upgraded it to have 12 colours. The seller also provided to him an OBD dongle that activated that menu in the dash so he can select the colours/brightness. I too did this installation, but I had the 3 regular colour ambient lighting which was terrible. Here is a link to that thread, + an installation guide. It should be exactly the same for the E class as they're built on the same platform: https://mbworld.org/forums/cls-coupe...t-install.html

Also, I would suggest you not buy your ambient lighting from Kerdy Liang. One of the plugs he sent me wasn't working. I then paid him for two footwell lights + another door plug, and he only shipped the footwell lights. I highly recommend you look at a seller on Aliexpress. Just search "W212 ambient lighting", and message a seller. Communicate with them that you currently have no ambient lighting, and make sure they have the OBD dongle that will activate the menu for you. I also highly recommend you do the footwell lighting as well, and not just underneath the wood trims, as if you do all 4 footwells, it looks insane at night. Here are some pictures of my install: https://mbworld.org/forums/cls-coupe...-lighting.html

There is no need for programs such as Vediamo, Xentry and WIS. I've provided you all of the information you need.

Ambient LED extension

the color match truly looks spectacular! The extension does add a nice touch of luxury.

I already have a version of running color bars in MY'14. I swear I never thought the footwell LED's were missing. Stock uses 50¢ bulbs to light footwells only when doors are opened. That's a limitation.

I wonder what control device is used to drive or encode an RGB signal for all those strings?

Can you make a color matching puddle LED logo projector ? Piggy back door strings down to custom under-door modules.
