Good Mechanic near Scottsdale AZ?
Hi, wondering if there are any private mechanics in Phx/Scottsdale area. My 2011 E350 has intermittent climate issues. The blower blows sometimes, others it's dead. Dealer and another place Scottsdale European told me it might be blower motor or might be relay. Both want almost 1000 dollars to fix, looked up parts they're pretty cheap. Also read it's an easy job. Am I getting ripped off? Hoping a mechanic with less overhead won't overcharge. What should I do? Thanks much!

overdue maintenance...
One thing leads to another:
When dirty old filter restricts airflow, the electronic voltage control gets too hot from the high blower current with tight sleeves.... well engineered for easy fixing.
You can buy these parts yourself and be done under 30mn!
ASAP....:
Act sooner than later because the Comand display relies on external air flow to cool down. Comand uses internal fans to reject heat in the dash cavity hopefully cooled.
(FYI: Tucson has an highly praised MB dealer in case you ever need top brass)

- Blower fan
- "Resistor" (MosFet PWM)
- Cabin filter !!!

easy does it!
Yes, for sure! It's as easy as it gets. Any housewife can tackle this repair.
NOTE :
When you drop the under pannel, go easy and be sure to gently remove the temperature sensor located towards the center console. The second wire is connected to light bulb socket.

repair parts... kit:
look for a parts kit at your favorite part store or parts counter. I don't have an EPC reference.
"Resistor" MosFet PWM:
The electronic module that controls power to adjust blower speed. In the old days it was a set of resistor before it got upgraded to power MOSFET transistor to chop DC voltage into a PWM.

blower kit
official sponsor... love to see u 😎
pricey voltage control... pass unless failed
After searching for these parts.... I see some blower motors types have a built-in voltage controller. As always you need the PN applicable to your specific car.
