Hello guys, I usually don't come to the forum as I own other MB types, but I'm trying to help out my father who just purchased a 2016 E350 Sport Wagon. The sticker says it has the $1600 silk beige leather option (215A), but the rear passenger seat cushion is mismatched from the rest of the seat upholstry. All of the seats have vertical lines from top to bottom, and the rear passenger seat cushion runs horizontally from left to right but the rear passenger seat back run vertically.

I cannot put eyes on it, but was wondering if anyone who has this color option would post a couple of pictures so I can help him confirm. He's owned many an MB over the past few decades but he's getting on up in age and he now cannot tell the difference between the MBTex and Leather and I want to make sure the PO didn't swap out the seats for some reason.

Thanks!

I think the horizontal lines are leatherette. At least that is what I have on my car.
True is that unless you go to the back side, telling leatherette from leather is very difficult.

Thanks for the quick reply. Just confirming he has the 2016 E350 Sport Wagon/facelift. Any pictures with those who have this option would be greatly appreciated!

wagons often do family duty, and kids often trash the back seats.

if you post the VIN of this car, we can look up the correct rear seat skins for it.

I agree, sounds like the PO replaced the rear lower seat cushion with MB Tex. Now the question is, did he replace just the cover or the whole lower rear seat and if the leather option under-cushioning is the same for leather and MBTex.

This is my MBTex, looks like it was changed out. Inner seat panels should match the front seats

If I have the VIN, I can first lookup the PNs for his car, then look up the PNs for my mbtex fake leather beige e350 4matic wagon which also is a 2016. When my car is here (my wife took a friend up to the bay area today), I'll photo our back (and front) seats.

lets see, my 2016 E350 4matIc parts...

rear lower 'skin' - A21292090028S40 (silky beige 115A)
rear lower cushion - A2129200150 (not for cars with 4 seats or rear integrated child seat, not for 'body manufacturer 1', whatever that means)

rear backrest right - A21292024608S40 (silky beige 115A, not for 'body manufacturer 1')
rear backrest left - A21292021608S40 ( '' '' '' )
rear backrest padding right - A2129202016 (not for body manu. 1, not for V8 M157)
rear backrest padding left - A2129201916 ( '' '' '' )

rear arm rest A20497003308S40 (silky beige 115A, not for body manu. 1)

hmmm, some other sources say 978 is 'body chassis special version' and/or 'ambulance', so it would make sense these would not have back seats.

Could of been one of these, I see a lot in wagons,LOL

LCG will send pics of his, mine as he inferred is a '12 Sedan, I would imagine the leather was considerably more,

Aweseome! Thanks guys. Yeah, logical it may have been trashed by pups and/or kids and the PO went with the MBTex as it's 1/3 the price of the leather!

I appreciate the insight greatly! Marc

so I got no pics, and my wife is taking the car for two days tomorrow before I get up. but the back seats look exactly like the front seats, the center section has wide horizontal panels, and the center sections of both the backrerst and the cushion are finely perforated, just like Pierre's pics.

Madman, that first door panel pic is like both of mine, six vertical lines above the armrest, the second door panel pick is way different, is that the facelift door panel? I also noticed the second door panel has only one weatherstrip instead of two like both mine do.

Both of these cars are facelifts. If you open the picture on a separate tab you can see the vin on the address.

Thank you ! The best part is that 2+ years and 35k miles later is worth the same ++Contemplating replacing it with a Model Y P. But I'm having a hard time letting go. BUT, I am concerned that days of regular wear and tear replacements will dent my wallet badly. I wish I could still keep it and semi-retire it, but it's not an option. Thoughts ?

Yes, I'm in the same quandry with my "13, it has everything but pano and parking, I was just offered 15,750 for an 83k mile car, yes it still look very close to the way I drove it off the lot eight years ago, one year ago I was offered 12,500. I just drove a '22 E400, 81k sticker with most options, they would be gracious enough to sell for sticker! 15,750 is wonderful, but not much of a downpayment on an 81k dollar car. So here's how I decided, historically in a normal market, I would get a 12-14% discount off the new car, that would be the entire value of my trade, which is already a reliable car in colors and with options we like, I could do spark plugs, tranny fluid, differential fluid, coolant, tires, brakes, wipers, driveshaft, all for less than the 16k I lose in MSRP discount, so the increase of 4k in value is quickly offset by my continued ownership, also no 950.00 dollar a month car payment for the next five years and no insurance increase, or the worry of parking my 81k car at the grocery. for me, it just doesn't work out money wise, yes I can buy it outright, but I'm making 9% on investments and loan cost is 1.9%, so net 7%, that's 5,600 a year net positive or six months of car payments. Then there's depreciation... Sorry for the long winded response, but I would like a new car! Just can't justify that kind of expense!

Guess I just could of said "Keep the wagon"

Yes ! Yes! And yes! Full agreement. Except.... enter Tesla, always at sticker. Could even flip it to someone that doesn't want to wait and skim that top, too. And we do know this is not going to last. Ergo the timing driven urgency, while it's still good, still looks good and still sells for that price. We will see.
