Gas warning light don’t work on my 03 E320
Everything works on the dash except the gas warning light so now I don’t know how much gas I got not even the lights where it indicates how much gas I got. Asking for a friend

Inoperative gas gauge....
> Background:
- These car use two in-tank sender float units connected to the R-SAM module that's in charge of computing the available volume.
- The information is then send through CAN-B network to the iCluster for display.
> How to Fix:
- Scan the OBD2 Port and focus on SAM modules and the exposed in-tank sender units data.
- One of the sender floats may be bad ???
- A 10mn scan should highlight the underlying issues for interpretation.
- Parts are cheap, qualified mechanics not so.
> PLAN B:
If you can't fix this issue... you may fill up the tank, reset the trip mileage counter and drive for 250Mi then refill until you figure actual gas-mileage vs. total miles from full tank capacity.
