It's been a long time owning my 2012 E350 for the past 10 years and it feels weird to have a new car but it's a sweet and sad time to semi-retire the E350. Still gonna keep it but it may be getting less mileage till the temps cool down.
Welcome my new 2022 corvette Z51. Cons and Pros to both cars but I love both in different ways. I wish I could have gotten another MB but I think they have just out-priced me on these newer models and no more V8 C63. I waited 1 year to get the C8 at msrp and it was worth the wait.
Huge Congrats! These C8s are such a huge departure from their predecessors. And I do love Vettes for their incredible bang-for-buck. But now, what a leap forward, nice!
What is mag ride?
1st time I hear about Corvette with comfortable ride.
For few years I was fascinated with Viper, till few times I could drive on side of them on freeway.
Shaky heads did remind me rides in Europeans miniature cars.
It's the best Corvette styling yet .I always prefer sedan over anything else but fun factor wise and attracting people , your new ride would do the job better

Yup the magnetic ride was my top option with the stiffer Z51 suspension to smooth out the uneven roads in atlanta. It handles rougher roads better than the mercedes and overall the mercedes will be softer, but if you had a non Z51 with magnetic ride it would be even softer of a ride.
At first I thought the Z51 was gonna be as stiff as other sports cars but its far from it. Now you can dial the car into other suspension modes to make it stiffer but I usually cruise in Touring which is the softest ride
Yeah, my Shelby GT350 had MagneRide and it provides a tremendous amount of shock variability that alters the characteristics in nano- seconds. Amazing invention

Glad you’re keeping the MB too, as the vette will allow you to appreciate the MB even more. Not that the MB is better, but because it’s totally different in its own way. For 5 years I had my MB and a 2015 VW GTI, and loved the option of either flying around like my tail was on fire in the VW, or just cruising about in comfort with no real stress to get anywhere fast in the MB. I couldn’t resist the market these days and ended up selling the VW a few months ago to Carvana for $20k (7 years old, 70k miles). I miss it, but made the right choice in keeping the MB and not the VW. That version of the GTI was the best I’ve ever had over the last 30 years, a true “lightening in a bottle” car, which is unique and hard to come by. I think the C8 is likely going to go down as one of those too.
Very interesting. This is the application of what was called "smart fluids" back in the '90s for active suspension systems. There were two branches of research back then: electro-rheological (ER) and magneto-rheological (MR) fluids. It seems GM/Delphi took the MR route.
MB seems to have only used ABC (active body control) which falls into the electronically controlled hydraulics (EH), and of course AirMatic.
I put my deposit last year July and got it May. Wait times now are probably about ~1 year as well if you buy from one of the top 10 corvette dealers. Most of the top 10 sell at msrp. Once Z06 starts production then the wait times will get longer cause Z06 will take up the production time from the stingray. You can pay 10k-15k over sticker for a quicker build like ~3-4 months but I didnt look too much into it cause I had no intention of that.
looks like i jinx us all. chevy just announced today a mid-model year price increase along the base and options. base is going up 2k which they already raised by 1k for 2023. they increased shipping price too and doubled a few accessory prices.
