Blue Tooth Compatible

I'm the owner of a pristine 2010 E350 4matic with the Premium 1 PKG that includes the Harmon Kardon LOGIC7 surround sound system. It's the best car stereo I've ever heard and I grew up in the 80's when car stereos were a status symbol. Has any one attempted to add blue tooth capabilities to the stock head unit or is it even possible? Could the existing auxiliary wiring harness be utilized? If I can add blue tooth capabilities to the existing stereo it would make road trips even more enjoyable. Rock on!!

Check in your glove box or centre console for a larger than USB rectangular port with multi pins around the inside edges, you can plug in a AMI BT adaptor, enable your Aux port for that to pass through audio and link the BT adaptor to your phone, if Aux isn't visible in the Audio selection menu, you'll need to enter the hidden engineering mode menu to enable it, search the forum for threads on this, plenty of info on here.

I believe on the 2010 models bluetooth wasn't enabled by default. Search the old threads and I think there's some hidden engineering menu that you can get to to enable bluetooth. You might want to just go to the dealer and have them update/enable it. My bluetooth was flakey in my 2011 and I had the dealer do a firmware update and it's been fine since. I think even if you can enable it, it might still be flakey.

The daisy chain of threads leads back to a old thread for enabling engineering mode but it doesnt work. Any chance for instructions or updated thread on that. Thanks

Might I suggest you forget Bluetooth and install a small, and reasonably inexpensive, secondary receiver in your car to enable Apple CarPlay or Android Auto? You'll get ALL the benefits of using your phone as your media source as well as all the other current apps including always updated maps.

Reading some of those old threads, you're probably better off getting bluetooth updated at the dealer. They only charged me 1 hour to do the update. Even if you enabled it, I remember on my 2011, bluetooth would skip. Got kinda annoying, every few seconds, it would skip so you wouldn't hear the whole song before there was a few skips. Same issue with Sirius too, but the firmware update fixed all that.

As for others yes, you could update Comand so that it supports Android Auto/Apple Carplay, but it's somewhat involved.

on any 212 other than a 2016, that is not an 'update' to COMAND, that requires installing a 3rd party AA/CP unit between the COMAND and the display, and those adapters tend to come with some really funky buggy software from noname china.

the 2016 has the next generation COMAND which does have integrated AA/CP support via USB but its disabled, you need both a firmware update, and to enable it via coding.
