Oil change price
All of those can be true, doesn't mean it's not a lubricant. To my understanding, most new oil innovations are because they (manufacturers) design the engine first and ask them to design an oil for it second. 0W oil still allows for faster start up lubrication. most wear occurs during start up so I think it's worth the trade off

Until now I used Mobil 1 0W40 @10K miles intervals at the dealership and recently moved to Motul 5W40 @5K intervals due to feedback in this forum and my Indy. Only two changes using Motul, and I have not seen oil consumption so far while I did with Mobil 1 (1qt/10K). I would have expected 1/2qt consumption, but nothing so far.
As a side comment: I was given a personalized tour as a guest of the Lubrizol facilities in Cleveland back in the summer of 1990, and I came out extremely impressed with the quality of work, and the shear testing effort on all kinds of components: engine, transmission, differential, pumps, vehicles, etc. I was not able to take full advantage of such an opportunity due to my lack of English to ask deeper (more insightful) questions. Wish I could do it again now.

The key is to make sure the oil is hot before you start. From start to finish is no more than 45-60 minutes, including filter exchange (from the top of the engine) reinstalling the filter cap, pouring in the new oil, and pouring the used oil in a leftover oil can to take to Jiffy Lube.
