I was able to find AML ambient lighting by selecting manually the model of my car. But when I go in to AML it tries to communicate but fails. Car is on ON. I'll try again tomorrow.

It is unclear what features require multiple configuration changes within a single module or using multiple modules. I have found that certain feature changes require making changes in multiple modules, such as CGW, IC, F-SAM, R-SAM, etc. Also, something like enabling Distronic+ requires disabling Cruise Control. Of course, if your car doesn't have the necessary hardware, software is not going to magically make it appear. If your car doesn't have the radar modules for Distronic+, you can't enable it. You may be able to change a setting, but that doesn't mean it will work. AND, the danger in doing so sometimes cause other problems.
You should check with someone like @BenzNinja to find out if what you want to do can be done. Some changes require the use of Vediamo or DTS Monaco, as well as XENTRY Online.

I think there is a warning on Xentry saying that would should never reset the TCU adaptation values unless the transmission is coming from a repair (i.e. new valve body, new friction material, etc.).

Tempering with poor adaptations does nothing worthy... Poor shifts are caused by the engine, not tranny.
A simple thing to do with poor shifts is not muscle high-power into slippery clutches:
GO EASY or get milked.

This shows the process for older cars. But it is really important that you have two people named Hans and Frederich with one wearing a white lab coat and the other blue bib overalls.

We need to keep in mind that Xentry was not intended to be used by the general public, only trained technicians. Moreover, this kind of makes sense. The shift adaptations is a function that allows the TCU to adapt to the wear of the transmission internal components. You can make small adjustments to the shift timming to make the car shift more aggressively but if you reset all the software parameters to factory "zero" without installing new internals, it is unlikely the computer will be able to control the transmission properly until you redo the adaptations.
