Baby Scanner - Launch Creader Elite specific for MB - Bi-directional and more
The tranny computer kept like the last 30 or so gear shift pattern as per your throttle modulation as ADAPTATION for you the driver.
If you like driving aggressive, the gear shift then becomes more aggressive like waiting longer when needing to up-shift, because it remembered that you throttle foot is "aggressive".
It will not make your car any smoother in gear shift per se.
It will not make your car any faster in gear chance too.

I'm considering the Youcanic hardwired version (above) or the Launch Creader Elite for MB (below).
I welcome all thoughts, opinions, and comments.
I have 2006 ML350 W164 (USA) with front SAM burned board.
Do you think if this Launch Creader x431 device can help replace the front (And rear) SAM with used unit (I found used device with all matching numbers on the unit) and program/code it if needed?
Thank you
Regardless of its quirks, see here : https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...ent-blind.html
this baby Launcg can read Variant Coding and change parameters too..crazy awesome.
I do not need to test all its capability, I am sold already for what I paid as under US$200 product.
Please DO NOT TOUCH variant coding when you are unsure. I have not changed any parameter yet...me scared for now.
Below is just one example of Coding Data even my naughty Xentry will never show. This is what Master Lou in his youtube explained as HQ Engineer/Developer data grade which technician even in dealership can't access.
This is under BRAKE, just 5% of the coding data probably...too many to show.
I seen the Front SAM N10/1 varian codin content, some only, for interior lights.
We can choose how many milliamps consumption as short circuit limit and open load limit....crazy !!! This means I can change open load limit parameter to suit LED bulb hahahaha.
Bi-rectional test is peanuts....... very complete, but I cant find COMPRESSION TEST feature like Xentry. Maybe it is hiding somewhere in Special Function.
The way menu are arranged is not the same as Autel or Xentry. So need to learn more.
Will update when I have more hours with this Launch.
.

One thing for sure, when all your modules are heathy, if the scanner has coding copy and save feature, use it....before any modules got bad in a way you can not extract its data.
In MB OE Xentry or expensive aftermarket scanner with subscription to the brand's server, the data is at the cloud, so no worry when and if old module is totally dead.
For this emergency I have subscribed to Benz Ninja, ahead of time as my car is now 10 years old and it will be kept for 20 years as target.
So it will be a matter of WHEN I will need Benz Ninja service, not IF.
I would still trust highest Benz Ninja service than a paid subscription of high end Autel or Launch with similar capability, due to the fact that the original files would be best using
MB ones and not aftermarket one.
Note, I am IT stupid

The baby launch , like the bigger Autel .... has coding copy and save feature ( BACK UP VEHICLE CODING )
Go to 2:20 and hear his explanation.

1. change L/100m to km/litre
2. adjusting DRL brightness at night (by default it is too bright IMO, it was set at 80% brightness compared to daylight, I set it at 40% now)
3. turning off the timer of air recirculating <== a must for jakarta air. I have yet to find a setting to enable this when switching on the ignition
but this already tons better than pressing those button so many times during long drive. 4. turning on emergency opening of the central lock (after a crash detected I guess)
5. change the number of turning blinker signal from 3 to 5 times

Its variant coding capability...... for the low cost it is = AWESOME
Fast yah amazon USA ?
I wonder what else can be changed. thanks again for the recommendation
I got the 2.0 version with support of BMW, VW and others (although I dont have that car I guess its better safe than sorry lol)
The Best of Mercedes & AMG

LOL, so Indonesian big city car owner hahahahah.

One day the dumb-azz HVAC designer should sit in the W212 with FRESH AIR default setting, after its 30 minute time out from Recycled to Fresh again , during typical weekend traffic jam with an old super blacky smokey bus in front of the W212, on the way to
Puncak ( mountain ) at mild gradient. You can wear a scuba full face mask and enjoy the clean air...
, let the HVAC engineer reap his intelligent work. The W212 in Indonesia get the "poor man" HVAC , so there is no air pollution detection sensor of the higher end HVAC, hence HVAC is passive stupid.
Set your HVAC to 7th flap position for footwell, that way your foot can get cooled during long distance. In my W212 E400 by default MB Indonesia killed that option.
Th Launch Creader.
I hope the V2.0 version you get have better processing power for speed and bigger memory. That will be even better.
Cheapo 1 : Its homepage voltage display showing consistent over-voltage, it is showing 13.1 to 13.4V
when actual is 12.3 to 12.7 V. I hope no one get a FLAT battery using this thing.Dumb Azz 2 : Its time zone is so limited, I can't use local time which should be as per my camera time stamp, 1 hour behind. It has wifi capability, but it never self correct itself to local time thru IP..Dugghh !!!
It will take days and weeks for me to test this Launch capability, but at this point in time I really like it because it is CHEAP and so CAPABLE.
I will take this baby Launch any day over any MB specific iCarsoft. Granted I now know MB software on iCarsoft, Autel and Xentry decently well, so I know what to expect from a scanner.
I have had the same experience with my Creader Elite BENZ reporting voltage nearly 1 volt higher than actual (15.3V vs. 14.5V). I measured using my iCarsoft MB V3.0 and a multimeter while the Creader was reporting 15.3V, they showed ~14.5V (it fluctuated). So, I will ignore the voltage reading on the Creader for now. I also have made the Creader my preferred on-the-go scanner that I keep in the car. It's fast and compact, with the cable permanently attached.
I took thought I had bricked the reader at one point when I had it powered using the USB connection. I actually used a paperclip and inserted it in the hole in the bottom of the device to reset it. If I remember, I did have to hold it for a while, or maybe had to disconnect power when I reset it.

UGH!!! Should have read further. Thanks for posting.
A month or so ago, I had a problem where Distronic Plus, PRE-SAFE Brake, Lane Assist, etc. became disabled when I tried a electronic throttle calibration using iCarsoft. It may have been something else I did, but I eventually restored the function using my XENTRY laptop. You can read about it here: https://mbworld.org/forums/sl-class-...s-limited.html
I just discovered I could use the Creader to do the same thing. I've had this tool a while and just never explored it. This is a game-changer when it comes to inexpensive Mercedes scan tools.

3rd party scanner need to reverse engineer lots of thing to be able to be like a Xentry and along the development, some coding may be wrong... or something like that.
I have seen enough videos by professional not using Xentry or OE scanner if for other car brands, trying to programs modules using 3rd party scanner and not all steps can be done.
Failing to code or program is OK, but bricking a module is a scary prospect.
This is a good example of an S63 Power Window using Autel high end scanner and it is a simple module, but Autel can't do it.
Imagine if the module is a much more complex and safety related one like engine, tranny and ABS/ESC.
I have experienced weird DTC or weird module recognition or weird bidirectional control missing its feature from Autel, Xtool and Launch.
It depends on which MB software number ( of the 3rd party ) in use at that time.
So, keep in mind. If critical task, best to use Xentry.
Full transparency, I have Autel MaxiDAS, BlueDriver, iCarsoft MB II and MB V3.0, and LAUNCH Creader Elite BENZ. The Creader tool is now my go to for quick scans and code clearing, and it fits perfectly in the storage box behind the driver's seat. I was able to use it to change the one-touch signal blinker from 3 to 5, and then to 4. But I would not use it to reset anything. I had used the iCarsoft tool to reset my electronic throttle controller (ETC) with negative results--disabled my radar for Distronic Plus, etc. I was able to restore everything with XENTRY.
I actually have Xentry with Developer Mode. However, it's the 2014 software version so it won't work with modules (like the ECU) that have software updates from MB (as is the case on the E250 Bluetec I just purchased). So I thought, rather get a new Xentry setup with C4 MUX, etc., etc., just get this and see what it can do.
First order of business: GET RID OF THAT SEAT BELT CHIME!!!

I am happy you guys are having good fun with it......
