2013 E350 Facelift (Japan Import) 2007 E350 Elegance Wagon, 2014 E350 Wagon facelift model Jap Model
Is this possible or a terrible idea??
Hey guys,
Suppose I had 2 x 2014 S212 wagons, one is an E350 one is an E400.
Both have identical interiors and body colours.
The E350 has heated seats front AND back...pretty rare I am told as this was a Jap delivered car.
Weirdly the E400 doesn't have heated seats...has everything else incl dual pane panoramic roof along with twin turbos, its an Aussie delivered car.
My question is, would it be possible to swap the seats, dash control, rear internal door handles, as thats how the heated rears are switched On/Off.
I have a laptop with 2022 spec Benz software and C4 so coding modules isn't an issue.
My worry is wiring & connections for the seats, does Benz pre-wire all cars the same regardless of things like heated seats etc?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers!!

In realm of "is anything possible?"
yes. Yes it is.
Is it reasonable and will you have success, most likely not. The harnesses are not the same, the amount of time spent tracing and routing wires and then coding it at all even possible most likely will be time and cost prohibitive even for the most advanced mechanic/automotive interior expert
but then again where there is a will there is a way. How far do you want to push this is the next question?

Heated rear seats K.I.S.S. ...
If all you want are heated seat in your second car I would not dismantle one car to build the other one.
Forget about scarvenging parts from a good car. Instead run your own wiring and switches in the build car. Start at the prefuse box because Benz undersized wiring harness are unlikely to carry all the heaters additional >20Amp load.
I believe the Power switching is done by SAM, not inside the rear DCU.

Bugger....oh well, many thanks for the info guys, you're all always a mine of valuable information.
Basically my hope/plan/idea was to buy the E400 and swap the seats etc from my E350 and sell the E350 with standard front and back seats and have nice warm buns in our sub zero winters here in the E400.
Really appreciate the advice guys thanks!!

each door has a door control module that sends digital messages to the body control module, the body module in turn sends computer messages to the seat control module under each seat.
each of these modules needs to be coded for the feature set.

I prefer OEM parts to retrofit things but a reputable upholstery shop can also retrofit rear heated seats using aftermarket units

Just buy sheep skin seat covers for the non-heated seat car. They will be better than factory heated seats plus cooler in the summer.
