Cracking sound when entering a slope
Hi All,
I have a w212 (2015 E350 4matic) and recently whenever I go over a slope (for example parking lot), I usually enter in an 45 degree angle and a huge cracking sound comes from the back.
The sound seems to be coming from the back windshield not outside. I was wondering if anyone had this issue in the past.
Note: I have a automatic rear blind on my vehicle as well.
Thanks in advance!

Do you have the pano roof? It's well known for doing this. You basically need to tighten 6 bolts in the rear and use loctite so it doesn't come loose again.

This is awesome! Now that I think about it, I think it is actually coming from the back pano roof. Seems a bit complicated process but I will definitely give it a shot and let you know! Thanks again!

Yeah it's not really that bad, only took about an hour the 6 bolts/screws are pretty accessible. It only needs to come halfway down, basically just enough to access the screws, a ratchet means you don't need the headliner to come down as far. Just dip the screw in loctite and tighten them back up. Make sure the car is level when doing this so there aren't any stresses on the pano roof. I did this several years ago and it's still quiet. Search the old threads and the dealers don't use loctite and it comes back after a few years. The real question is do you pay almost twice as much for 8x more loctite if you don't need much to begin with?
