panoramic roof glass replacement

a branch fell on my pano roof braking the glass of my 2011 e350 wagon. is a full replacement required or just the section of the glass? will a new complete cassette be required?
i am trying to figure out the best way to tackle this, i have glass insurance but high deductible, so wondering if a replacement from a wrecker would be an option.

I think you've got the right idea.... the gently used glass with trimmings are gonna save you a stack.

You're going to discover how many plastic and rail pieces got wasted.

Complete unit does sound good so you have options on hand.

Be ready with roof "normalization procedure", it is going to come up... I don't have scanner tips on that.

What part if glass broke?

if it us the front moon roof then naturally you need to replace that part. The glass comes with the frame and it fastens with four screws.

A new glass was $1050 a few months ago. I carry comprehensive with a low $250 deductible and I recommend doing this as comprehensive is very low insurance add-on against some surprises like what happened to you.

For the rear part I don’t know but I think it must be more than the front part.

So is Mercedes selling the two glass panes individually or only as complete cassette?

I believe they can be bought separately.
