Engine oil leak at the back of the heads 2011 v6

I have an oil leak at the back of the heads on my 2011 v6. It looks few plugs from the driver side and a bigger cover in the passenger side. Maybe a crank case vent? Any idea of the parts needed and if there is a guide for it? Thanks!

Be very careful If you are replacing the oil drip pan...the spherical part that is located in the engine behind the engine crankcase vent valve on the passenger side of the vehicle. It's a left hand thread when removing and bolting it in. Do a YouTube search on replacing this on the M272 motor to get an idea of what this job entails.

why is that part needed to be replaced? I only ordered the cover plate, as I have oil seepage from the gaskets

When I worked on my vehicle, I decided to replace the oil drip pan with the outside cover being that the oil drip pan can be gunked up with oil. There are vent holes in the oil drip pan and these could be clogged from old oil. I wanted to replace all of it because I didn't want to have to replace at a later date. Ultimately your choice and your dime.

I replaced the two small cam plugs. the kit came with a third big one but I wasn't able to locate it. i suspect that it is needed in some configurations but not on the e class?

i cannot seem to locate the location for the big plug on my engine. On the driver side valve cover there is a metal plate, I think some how that replaces the plastic plug?

Not certain. The 2008 E350 with the same engine has the 3 plugs, and the C and GLK350 with the same engine have 3 plugs. Not certain if for the last generation of M272 on the W212 they upgraded the larger cap. I do not have a sample car to look at.

I would be surprised if they did.

Interesting your engine has a pump at the back of that camshaft. I did not know they added that on the W212. The W211 does not have it.

no pump... no problem

the vacuum pump is at the back of bank 2 intake camshaft.
You can be happy not to have this pump. A simple NA engine without this pump has no check valve maintenance.
