Abnormal Coolant Fan Behavior in Mercedes-Benz E300 (2014)

Hi

It appears there is an issue with the coolant fan in the car ( E300/2014). Specifically, the fan operate ( run on high, It sounded like a jet engine.) when the car is stationary (parked) It doesn't matter whether the air conditioner is on or off , and when I shut off the car, the fan turn off immediately, despite the absence of any indication on the dashboard suggesting an increase in engine temperature ( 90 to 95 C from the Instrument cluster) or a fault error or any effect on the car performance. Fan is working normally when driving ( no issue at all ) .

Additionally, after conducting a diagnostic scan, there are no reported faults or error codes ( I have reset the Fan system but still the issue is there) , and there is no observable leakage of coolant.

The car continues to function properly despite this anomaly. The Fan is new ( almost 5 months )

Update on 28.1.2024
I have replaced the water pump with a new one ( as the I have notice the coolant degree reach 106C when the car not moving (Parking or N) , so I suspect the water pump is not functioning well ( I have not replace it since 2014 , so I thought it is a good time to replace it at once.).

However the same issue still there, when AC is off no problem at all , with AC is On the FAN start running at high speed again.

Update on 31.1.2024
after replacing the water pump few days ago , the problem semes to be resolved as I have not notice any issue with the FAN ( only the first day after replacing , other than than everything is OK)

More update will come.

supersonic fan..

Your new fan insist on running supersonic without any useful code from your Mercedes.

Use your scanner to read the AAC ref-gas pressure. Your A/C pressure sensor at the bottom of condenser simply got rained on.

Inspect & clean oxidized connections or replace sensor after data failure?

If you like free bonus we can spot you for one.

would the scanner identify any issue with AAC ref-gas pressure?

NO, but you need to compare its pressure when engine has been COLD ambient temperature....to R134A refrigerant pressure vs temperature chart.
Read here : https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...mum-speed.html

Good luck

A/c pressure...

90% chance yes but who knows what your scanner will expose.

Don't expect a scanner to guide your troubleshooting.

Collect the A/C pressure data along with ALL other faults.
