Making Distronic Active Again
Hi, I need some help turning on the feature of Distronic and Automatic High Beams. I had to drive across the US for a job and in Alabama I had an engine issue where I found a shop that repaired but I was told they made the distronic and automatic high beams module inactive on from their mercedes scan tool. Now I am back in SW Florida and im not sure where to go or what I need in order to turn on those features again.
Thanks in advance

Check this thread. You may be able it initiate calibration with a LAUNCH Creader Elite BENZ scan tool, as well.

You really should get a Mercedes-specific scan tool. It will save you a lot of trouble and time. $160 with coupon on Amazon.

Here is the procedure in XENTRY. I will try to get pics of where to initiate calibration on the LAUNCH tool.

Using the LAUNCH scan tool.
You can also check the status of your calibration by selecting Read Data Stream from the menu selection. This will be helpful in determining the progress and status of your calibration drive.
Lastly, though I didn't do it this way, you may also be able to initiate calibration by selecting Initial startup with test drive and repeating the above instructions. The Initial Startup menu item is right below Special Function menu item.
- Navigate to system DTR-DISTRONIC(A89) and select Special Function.
- Read the Operating instructions. When you select Continue, it will automatically put your radar sensors into calibration mode.
- You then must take a drive, trying to stay in a straight path at a fairly constant speed. The drive lasts about 15-20 minutes or 10 miles before PRE-SAFE functions are restored. During calibration, everything is inoperable and you will have yellow triangles displayed in your external rear view mirrors. When calibration is completed, the yellow triangles turn off and you will get a message that PRE-SAFE functions are restored.
- Sorry, but I didn't read all the Operating instructions, and inadvertently initiated calibration on my car. I missed capturing a screen shot that gives more information. But if you get this far, the rest is self-explanatory. I don't have time right now to do it again.

Thank you very much,
I will wait for the scan tool to come tomorrow and will follow up with questions.

clean up the cover
Speaking of MB Distronic+ front radar module
I've discovered something recently:
the big plastic star or the rectangular cover get dirty on their inside face!!
The radar is housed inside a plastic box module that's behind the front grill.
Nirmal rainny Winter road conditions build up a perfect shield against 20GHz radar projection.
opened up Distro. radar
I simply wiped the inside of the front plastic cover with WATER. I didn't want to chance Windex ammonia on German plastics.
Now it's much more sharp to sense nearby objects like parked cars (beep-beeps) in a good way.
