2011 W212 - Odd screeching/whistle/whine/squeak when braking?

Past 3 months I’ve noticed some noise when I brake. It’s pretty much stayed the same so it’s not like the sound has gotten louder, but it is rather annoying. I took it to 2 shops that work on German cars. One told me to definitely replace the brakes and rotors and the other told me the brakes and rotors are fine and maybe changing it may make a difference but they can’t say for sure. One quoted $1100 the other quoted $1200.

The thing is, brake pads are NEW and I’ve only put 6,000 miles on the car since I last replaced them. No warning errors or anything either and the car BRAKES fine too. Attaching a video to give an idea of the noise if anyone can help me identify it.

Your brake rotors sound like they are glased.

Where did you buy your current brake pads?

I don't believe these are MB "Semi-Metallic" pads.

Who changed the pads initially and what type/brand were used? Check the caliper slide pins and lube the backsides of all the pads with brake lube.

Honestly I purchased the car used from a private seller. Drove it about 15K miles then got some service done at an independent shop which included new brakes and rotors. I have driven it another 6,000 miles with the “new” brakes but I guess these weren’t OEM.

Here are some photos of the rotors/brake pads. Not sure if this helps in anyways.

You see what great is now we have a complete picture. So the best solutions are more obvious.

I don't think you are considering the latest dealer offering: $150 discount service coupon.

What you need are good brakes. This unvolves parts and workmanship.
Mercedes branded brake parts will work like new.
Semi-metalic pads prevent glazing by biting into the surface. Always clean

$150 off? I’ll take it. Thanks for letting me know.
