It was good advice, so don't apologize for it.

Hmmm, and so I was wondering if this scanner allows the enabling of ILS (like how Europe and the rest of the world is) that North America disabled via software... by chance or am I too greedy

Actually, there is variant coding for ILS with Creader though I don't know if it will work. You need to have the hardware at least.

I found it once under the Front SAM, I believe. It just provides an option to enable or disable ILS. When I switched it to Enable, I couldn't detect any difference. That's why I think you need to have the proper hardware. It's like trying to enable Distronic Plus if you don't have the radar sensor -- it won't work.

There are several OBDII readers that allow you to disable that ECO Start/Stop Function nowadays. This thread is a step-by-step procedure using the Launch Creader Elite 2.0 Benz, available at Amazon and other sources…
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CMG7Q7YP...t_details&th=1
First topic of business is to update all the software, including the MB/Maybach software to REQUIRED version v50.26. This reader has onboard WIFI, so the update is easy while sitting on the couch.
Once updated, connect the provided OBDII cord to the OBDII slot under the dash in your car to the left of the steering wheel. If auto search VIN is enabled (recommended), the Launch Creader will ID your VIN and then run a full diagnostic of your W212’s system. I recommend clearing all DTC codes identified (prompted) before proceeding. Also, if equipped with Keyless GO, remove the keyless button and use your KEY in the ignition, when requested.
The diagnostics results page (above) will list all the systems available (scroll down to see them). Look for the “ECM – Engine Control Module (ME).” Touch the RIGHT arrow on this line to reveal the next page…
On this “MENU” page, scroll to and touch “Variant Coding”
NOTE: If at anytime during this procedure you are prompted to Switch On the ignition, this means to position 1, only. Because this mod writes to the ECM, do NOT start the engine running (position 2).
On the next page, select the only option available, “Implicit_variant Coding”
The next page will reveal 100+/- systems you can touch. Scroll down until you see “Engine Start/Stop” In my car, it is item number 086 (left column), but may likely be another number, depending on how your car is equipped. At least “086” will get you into the right neighborhood. Note that it shows Engine Start/Stop as ACTIVE. Touch on this line to proceed…
The next screen will show you the two options, “NOT ACTIVE” and “ACTIVE”. Tap on “NOT ACTIVE” and the next screen will appear…
Showing that you have selected “NOT ACTIVE.” Click OK, then on the next screen look to the lower left, and tap “Write Coding” to save your choice to the ECM module. Wait patiently while this compiles and gives you a “completed” screen. At this point you can back out of the reader, or push the On/Off button on the reader as a shortcut.
It took me 2-3 tries to get this to work, so don’t be discouraged if multiple efforts are needed. Eventually, you can turn the ignition Off and then back on, to see if the “ECO” button lights or not. If not, you should be good to go… no more ECO Start/Stop.
The change is a FIXED ON or OFF (it’s not a remember last setting).” I suppose you can re-enter the system and reselect “ACTIVE” to restore the function. I have not tried this yet. But pushing the ECO button while driving has no effect (staying OFF).
Hope this step-by-step helps.

I do not believe so using the LAUNCH tool. I think it needs to be coded using Vediamo. Mid City Engineering will sell you a device to do that for $154 plus shipping. BenzNinja can also program your car. Not sure why you would want to do that, however, considering the potential damage it does to the transmission and crankshaft.

YES there is one way to do it where it just remembers last setting when you turn engine on.
Try this:
Diagnose
Diagnostics for Mercedes
Automatically Search
Enhanced Version
System Selection
Common Powetrain (“Powertrain” is misspelled) Controller OR similar (I forget but near top)
Variant Coding
Implicit variant Coding
Scroll to “Operation Strategy_stop_start” (This is one you need to find)
Select and change value to “Stop-Start Default Logic, Last Mode” (this is what youare trying to find in all those possible modules and option)
OK
Select BACKUP FIRST
Then when that is done select ‘Write Coding’
follow the prompt instructions at each step if any.
Ps I do notice the touchscreenis real sensitive and soemwhat PIA as you try to scroll and sometimes it selects the wrong function and opens a screen you did not want to go in so you click BACK and then it goes to the top of the list again - not where you were.
I hate small screens - wish it could mirror to my laptop

The navigation pathways for all the functions being discussed here varies by MB model. After the Launch Elite V2.0 runs its scan, go back to the home page, click on Diagnostics / Mercedes / Special Functions / Special Function Entry Path, and then scroll down to the function you wish to code. For example, Start/Stop is the 20th item down in the list of 24. Click on the item, such as Start/Stop, and a drop down box appears that lists groups of MB models, and the Launch pathway to get to that coding function. Write it down, and then start over from the Diagnostics / Mercedes / ... and follow the pathway. These 24 Special Functions might not cover all models, and coding possibilities might not be limited to only these 24 items. Looking forward to what others discover about this surprisingly capable OBD scanner!

Back on topic, the coding I noted in my original post results in an "all or nothing" solution. Either Start/Stop works, or it doesn't. The ECO button no longer works.
I'm learning that there are other solutions (at least one) where you can code the function to be directed on the last setting of the ECO Button. In other words, if the ECO light is "ON" when you turn off the engine, ECO will operate the next time the engine works. Likewise, if ECO light is "OFF" when you turn off the engine, then ECO will remain "OFF" when the car is restarted.
This suggests to me that there is another module that controls this, rather than just the Engine Control Module (ECM) I found. If anyone has found this separate, different coding path using the LAUNCH Creader Elite 2.0 Benz, please share it here, so that others will have multiple choices when coding their ECO START/STOP in their cars using this LAUNCH reader.

Using Launch with my car (2014 E250 Bluetec), under ECM I do not have an item that says "Engine Start/Stop."
Instead, I have these two:
ECU Operation Strategy. Currently set to Start/Stop ON, Rekuperation OFF. I can change that to Rekuperation ON, Start/Stop OFF.
Operation Strategy Start Stop Start. Currently set to Stop-Start Standard Logic, Default ON. I can change to Standard Logic, Last Mode. Then there are two other choices: Instead of Standard Logic, it's Nur in E, and then either Default ON or Last Mode.
Because of the ambiguity, I'm hesitant to mess with it. Can anyone provide any clarification as to what those choices mean?
My guess is that the simplest thing to is just to change to second one to Standard Logic, Last Mode...then once I turn off Eco it will stay off (until I turn it on).

ENsure you perform back up or screenshots of what it was before you make changes so you can always change back if not what you wanted

I was actually able to make it optional...setting was spelt wrong "load mode" vs. Last mode but it seems to be functioning as inteded...mind you i did it on w205. Same innsteuctions as below but under "engine electromics" and then changeover/setting...then start/stop strategy...choose the option you want..tough to explain but happy to walk anyone through it live if needed..just pm
