bumping this thread. just tried the launch programmer on my glk350 x204 and can confirm that the last memory function does not exist. Prior to this, I tried the mid-city engineering module and it also doesn't work.

I believe it is engine specific. In any event, I disabled eco mode permanently via ecu route but have heard that this can cause the alternator to over charge the battery? can anyone confirm?

You may be right concerning the mid-city engineering tool. I used it on both my cars and they both remember the last setting. I have an M276.957 3.5 liter NA and an M276.825 3.0 liter bi-turbo.

WRT the affect on the alternator, sounds like an urban legend. I’ve gone years with the ECO Start/Stop disabled with no alternator problem.

For W212 engine with MED177.xxx engine computer.... START STOP and dumb-azz eco charging of the alternator are TWO DIFFERENT things.
There is no way your alternator can overcharge your battery even with START STOP disabled ( mine disabled a long time ago )....in fact it will very likely under charged your battery most of the time,
even with or without START STOP deleted.

The MED177 on my car is what controls the charging algo of the alternator via LIN.
I have disconnected the LIN so that my alternator default to its own built-in smart enough and awesome charge controller/regulator.

Use your battery and amperage monitor on your dash/instrument cluster while driving.
If you see 12.6V or lower while accelerating in daytime ( no headlight ) and HVAC NOT at high power ( low blower speed )...... you then have that dumb-azz eco charging algo for the alternator,
from your engine computer.

Prior to coding ECO S/S off, I had my battery sensor disconnected, which disables the S/S system. I noticed no affect on charging or on battery life with either method (but even if it cut battery life in half, it would be worth it).

Everything's Personal Choice

Everything's getting MIXED UP !!!

> ECO S/S...
- Some ppl unplug the Hyundai battery module to quickly disable ECO S/S feature.

- Doing this effectively also disable "Smart Charging" voltage control (12.6 to 14.9) so ECU defaults to one static voltage.

Without Hyundai LIN Module connected to the R-SAM then the IC Display battery Volt/Amp data remains blank.

Disabling ECO through menu unlikely interact with the battery charge control.

ECO is definitely not great to use with already high heat engines.

Limited battery charge and "drain by driving" leads to slow crank, low voltage and unstable chassis helped by power cycle aka. reboot!
