Suspension

Hi I have a 2014 E550 4matic. I’ve been having problem with the suspension. The back end has been dropping down over night but only in sport and not in comfort mode. You can even push the rise button and it will stay up. I haven’t found any leaks and I’m starting to think it is the solenoid valve unit. It is letting the air go back and not shutting itself back off. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem before? Thanks for anyone who might be able to help out

Cody I think you are on the right track.
The air valves are recognized to rust.

Unfortunately I am not an airmatic guy to guide you through testing and tips to keep the air dry.

I had this exact issue. With sports setting car went down but not in comfort.

It was leaking sir spring. My theory is that with comfort (or raised) setting the one good spring developed enough pressure when car lowered that it was able to carry the car without letting it go all the way down. Sports mode does not have enough stroke for this so car found bottom before enough pressure was present in the good spring.

My 2016 550 is developing this as well. How did you troubleshoot which air spring was leaking? Any good parts sources?

It will be the corner closest to the ground with the least amount of wheel gap in the fender well...

Just for info, before getting new springs I replaced the valves but this $350 investment did not help any.

The leaking spring was easy to see as that side was a little bit lower when in comfort mode and car did not go all the way down.

If it indeed is leaking spring replace them both. I bought Arnott springs.

For spring leak testing I built a kit with a hand ball valve that mounts between air supply tube and spring. After car is up and level and turned off I close the valve and then in the morning I can see if it went down.

Had the same problem on my '11 S212 when it was around the 10 year 100k mark. The side with the more pronounced drop is usually the defective bag...in my case the it was the drivers side. I replaced both rear bags (imo replace both because of Murphy's law) with Arnotts and have been happy with them.
