"Simple" is a relative term if you know what you are doing. And, yes, you need the hardware.

Update. So I made the coding change. But, even when I slam the brakes really hard (hard, but not enough to cause skidding), the brake lights don't flash. However, doing a little more research, the following conditions must be met in order for the lights to flash:

Vehicle speed greater than 50 km/hr
Deceleration 7.5m/s^2
BAS activated
ABS controls both front wheels.

I certainly didn't feel the ABS engaging (which I assume I would in the W212...unlike my W211).

So either I'm not braking hard enough to get the lights to flash. Or another possibility is that the country code needs to be changed from USA to ROW in order to "unlock" the feature.

I haven't explored or experimented with this coding on the Launch. Is there an Activation option in this brake light variant?

ITem 35 had a different name but maybe similar under a different Item number nearby.

I Did not do it as I just did ECO one and figured 1 per day.

I changed the coding but in my "test run" wasn't able to get the lights to flash....guess I need to skid more!

Here I am.

Gateway: Must change vehicle variant to rest of world
In Front SAM: Warn_bli_enable --> "ja"
In Rear Sam: PRL_EB_Enabled_b --> "freigegeben"

If anyone is local in Toronto or wishes for remote work - I can also help code
