MB USA, parts are SO CHEAP !!!!!

I envy you guys................... in USA.
I am sourcing a W204 fuel filter, which is also used by some W212 using M272 engine.

MB Parts are soooooo cheap

Sales tax not included yet.

Germans get quite a cut throat. 19% VAT already included. Free shipping in Germany.

Me in Indonesia, guillotine is waiting , this is the same case with my E400 fuel filter, which I decided to buy from FCP Euro.

Comparison

I can buy from Ebay ( genuine ) US seller and have it landed Indonesian in 35-40 days with duty & VAT paid for only US$312.00

MB USA dealer wont ship to me in Indonesia I can guarantee, buy Ebay seller will. Ebay shipping is also cheap.
FCP Euro does not stock what I need.

I do not understand why Fuel Filter marked up is so insane at MB Indonesia.
Special Tools from MB, in fact MB Indonesia is cheaper than USA by 10 to 15% !!!! These are the only item in Indonesia is cheaper than USA....LOL.

For decades I had MB for family car and Ford Truck for business. Quite often the same parts needed replacement on both and comparing the parts I bought, Ford parts were always more expensive, however going to truck, they were bigger.
For Ford, there is not many aftermarket parts suppliers, so I had to go to local dealer, who gladly offer me 20% discount for business use.
For MB I have few good suppliers I used in the past, but quite often I google part # with excelent result.
Last time I needed new seat belt, for Sprinter, who retails at $550. Googled a supplier selling it for $130. New and OE.

Hi S-Prihadi,

I've used StarParts recently with good prices. They only sell parts to 5-year plus cars and use different layout for their boxes, but are all original MB parts.

https://www.mercedesbenzstarparts.com/

Best!

In the past, I was buying parts in USA and shipping them to Poland and even Germany. to fellow forum members.
Takes some trust, but shipping is relatively cheap.
On other hand, there is Liquy Moly diesel intake cleaner, that NAPA was selling in some states, but not where I live. Helpful forum member helped me to get it.

I usually have the parts delivered to a friends house in Florida and pick them up whenever I travel to the US or they come to Brazil. It's annoying but parts prices in the local MB dealer are just crazy expensive. They charged about USD 200 for the oil filter of the 722.9 transmission for instance, a part that costs about USD 40 on FCP Euro. So any parts that I can anticipate the usage I bring in advance from the US.

You kidding about not much aftermarket for Ford right? Ford Ram GMC all have huge aftermarket here in the States. Ram has the discount OEM suppliers as well and I am sure the other two do as well. Only recently post covid BS has everything gone thru the roof. Owned several Ford trucks and my dad owns several currently, never had a problem getting either oem or aftermarket parts. Just depends on the quality and price ya wanna pay.

Now MB is a different story. Trying to get the various in depth parts can be troublesome.

Makes ya wonder right. Those discount retailers are still making a good markup, the other guys are making a huge markup. Then ya get the its cheaper to have it shipped to the US, then bought and shipped back over seas then buying it over there anyway.

USPS is good in the states, better than ups, both of which are leaps and bounds better than fedex. Dont even get me started with fedex.

Arrived........ and genuine
Also made by VDO, same as the original one in the car, but I get updated P/N as per my order.

..

...

Ebay made good, no extra import tax whatsoever.
Like 45-50% cheaper compared to MB Indonesia

Just within less than a month, my currency from US$1.00 I only needed to pay Rupiah 15,800 when I pressed the order, by the time the credit card billing comes thru.....
its already Rupiah 16,148 or 2.2% down .....my currency value.
Dang, I get poorer everyday
