Brakes
So I decided to change out my brakes now I took off the wheel and thought it was like any other car come to see these calipers had torque head bolt so i removed them thinking I would slide up like any other car well what was that for brake fluid came out because it wouldn’t slide up so I removed both of them did this to both sides of the caliper swapped out pads put it back to get her and went to do the other side the outer bolts came off but not the inner ones so I only was able to change out 1 pad then I said let me you tube this to find out all I had to do was remove 2 pins which while undoing the torque bolts I said to my self that’s a weird way to make brakes now are they supposed to have a certain torque spec because now my brakes don’t even work and I get this on my dash
This comes on and I have no brakes

1st, tell us what year your car is and specifically the model (in case you have more than one car). 2nd, are you talking about your front or rear brakes?
When working on your brakes, there is a service position that you should put them into. I don't know exactly what that does, but it's there for a reason.
If your car does not detect your brakes when you press on the brake pedal, then that is a problem with the brake switch, which is a plunger switch at the top of the pedal. Have someone check if your brake lights come on when you press the pedal. Lastly, get a Mercedes-specific scanner and scan for trouble codes. the LAUNCH Creader Elite 2.0 BENZ is highly recommended for this. On Amazon for about $160 with coupon, or about $120 on AliExpress.
Changing out pads (and even rotors) should not cause the light you are getting on the dash.

Oh oh.... you have just accidentally open up the 2 piece Brembo brake assy.
Your brake caliper would look similar to mine, please verify :
If your brake caliper looks like mine, it is a 2 + 1 piece caliper and the small cross over o-ring, a mushroom shaped o-rings ( 2 pcs per caliper ) which is the cause of your LEAK is not available original version, Brembo does not sell it.
Close up, Ebay one vs Brembo original. Crude texture vs smooth.
..
See my overhaul here :

I hope your crossover o-rings were not damaged.

When pedal is not depressed, that is basically STAND BY POSITION for the calipers where you can work on it already

Some cars have a diagnostic option to put the brakes in a 'service position', where they retract as far as possible. Furthermore, on electric park brake systems, you want to have the automatic parking brake in released mode. Also called 'service mode'.
However, on the W212 platform, no such thing exists.

@Jeedie Thank you - much appreciated. Good to know on the W212 there is no service mode for either from or back. Since I had read that for the rears there were issues regarding the parking brake where people were having issues with a locked caliper by not putting it in service mode. Better to ask than have an issue. Thank you again.
