Coolant temperature sensor replacement M276 3.0T and 3.5NA

Gents,

Poor soul for those wanting to replace coolant temperature sensor.
The amount of work is the same as this post #1 : https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...2-2-hoses.html

This coolant temperature sensor is basically used on almost all MB engines.... the list is so long in EPC.

In say a M272 engine, where this sensor get a locking U clip.

..

...

On M276-s, look Ma , no U clip to lock sensor in place ??

So, lets play a guessing game. how does this coolant temp sensor securely get locked down , without the usual metal U clip as locking device ?
The pressure at the coolant temp sensor can be as high as 20ish PSI, not a small pressure value.

... one thing to another

The U-clips cost money... so now they have been eliminated

the plastic pipe is used to hold down temp sensor

To service the sensor now requires to service plastic pipes seals...

fasteners

Replacement of the fragile plastic piping is a good thing anyway.

faster stuck under vacuum pump
With little chance you may need to remive vacuum pump to access the 3rd fasterners... to remove the sensor

Here is the cavity at Pipe #1 for coolant temperature sensor.

.
It even has ribs to push down coolant temp sensor

.

So be very careful when re-installing the coolant temp sensor and the pipe #1.
Do not get wire pinched or the sensor angled wrong, or else sensor will break from pipe #1 push down pressure.

Since the sensor is purely held by o-ring, it can spin 360 degrees.....until we use pipe #1 as lock down facility.
So feel the sensor sit well in pipe #1 cavity first, and then slowly cap it with pipe #1 and start finding the o-ring hole of pipe #1.

Guess what......

My order for new coolant temp sensor and its o-ring is still 2 months more waiting period, DUMB AZZ !!! It was 90 days waiting period, crazy.
That o-ring now looks bad already
Not that it will leak, but I hate how aged it look.
