Broken trunk wiring fix

Was wiring a dashcam and trying to change the license plate light bulb when I found this. What did you guys do to fix this and not reoccuring again. Thinking of soldering the ground wires and reinforcing this section to brace the flexing of the cables.
I'll leave this area open until I find a proper solution. For the cars who got this fixed under warranty what did the dealer do? Changed the wire harness? If so was it just the same part or different? If they just tied it all together do you have pictures on how they reinforced that section?

R-SAM harness issue...

This sort of damage is unusual... who got involved for this to happen ?

Obviously the BRN GND is gonna need to be reconnected to where it came from, nearby.

Disconnect your batteries while doing that

Signs of incorrect routing. Someone must have there earlier; otherwise, you should have had several electrical issues earlier

The wires havent been touched as I need to remove all of the tape from the harness. From searching online people have the same spot where the wires broke and it made my searching a lot easier. What I did was soldered the wires then covered each wires with industrial grade hot glue to insulate each wires then wrap it tight with grip tape. After the hot glue dried it reinforced that section then I zipped tied it to the hood arm to not let it flex too much when the tunk opens and closes.

Everything is fine now but I wont close off the area for a month so that I can monitor how the wires move over time.

Have you or did you scan the car for codes? I would think the Rear SAM would have had lots of them. Trying to figure out how that would happen.

Yes I did. There where 2 codes, one for the license light and one door release. The other wires the insulation was cracked but the copper wires are intact. If you pull out your trim there by any chance, your car is not in warranty anymore better check your wires. Just remove the black tape wrapping on the harness on the junction where it separates on the trunk support arm and see if the wires are in good shape. If they are in good shape I suggest to reinforce that area so that you do not stress the wires from constant flexing.
