super-intermittent starting issue
I have an E350d 2010 and every so often I will start the car only for the engine fire up and then to instantly cut out and die.
It can start fine for weeks potentially before doing this and it always starts fine if I take the key out and try again.
I had the codes read but nothing relevant is logged.
Any ideas?

It sounds electrical more than fuel related.
Good thing it does not quit while driving.
This may be related to solderless EIS keyswitch...
Get yourself a scanner ready for next time this happens.
You want to avoid clueless guessing as much as practical. Everything is possible.

Randomness is genuinely puzzling.
It sounds electrical more than fuel related.
Good thing it does not quit while driving.

Without a usable scanner for troubleshooting, it's harder to call the right part.
Lately a lot of chassis engines disfunction without related fault codes. . .
There's something you can do that will positively help and not cost you a small fortune: Driver-side SAM power relay maintenance.
Use a schematic to list main circuits to the following Modules:
Only buy from trusted parts source.
