Something missing here?

If this was applied, shouldnt i be able to see the bottom shim on this image?

If you get "spring noise" going over bumps as springs compress then replacing the missing shim is the solution.
Your strut... no shim showing
My strut... with shim installed
If the noise is driving you crazy... try to simply apply grease around spring base or repeat installation to correct.
strut showing noisy shim in place
driver side uses metal shim
....grease that section of noisy metal shim
new strut bearing getting lubed up prior to install
> SHIMS STYLE:
There is a discussion here possible between passenger shim vs. driver side shim.
-- passenger is a heavy rubber only: quiet
-- driver side is a metallic/rubber shim: noisy from factory.
> GREAT STEERING ...
The new $60 L/R strut bearings makes the steering great again:
- Precise to control Hwy speeds
- Easily self-centering
- Low force to operate
BEARING race opened up: the CENTER ring is the No1 front bushing !
It's just a giant ball bearing ring with dry evaporated light grease... need better temp silicone grease.
The center rubber bushing holds the strut center position. Very desirable choice to replace with front control arms.
