Hissing noise in steering at some points W212 E250 2014

Hi,
There’s a hissing noise in steering in my W212 E250 2014 at some points and the noise comes in stationery position and also while moving when turning. Is it normal or is there something to be concerned about EPS/steering rack? Recently at my place winters have also started so I was wondering could it be the culprit also? Like some sort of lack of lubrication. The noise is exactly from steering wheel not in the deep end. Attaching the video below of the sound. My car cannot show EPS errors as it was programmed long time back after it’s steering got locked and the steering lock was removed by the previous owner and recoded (very common issue in w212)

NOISY EPS COLUMN

You need to get this looked at by your trusted MB specialist.
I am under the impression W212 MY'14 sports an electricly assisted steering rack. I know for fact it does not have the former "steering lock" that used to fail routinely with conventional hydraulic assist.

You say your car had this lock fixed so I don't get it.

I am going to guess your issue stems from whatever that was worked on down there: the amazin' tilting steering column that nearly works reliably...

Also... refrain from turning the steering wheel like you do in the video - This uses a huge electric assist current in the solderless rack...$3000 unit. Instead turn it slowly as if it was not assisted. This will preseve your front tires integrity and tie-rods.

Actually I am not sure whether steering lock work has been done by previous owner or not, I said so because there was no steering lock in the car and it’s my first merc. Then later some mechanic told me that this E250 CDI has a common issue of steering lock so the previous owner must have got it removed and re programmed and I could saw some fragile plastic bits broken under the steering on the leather like end. Exactly it’s a E250 CDI 2013 December I said it 2014 so that people don’t think it of as the pre face lift ones.
Edit 1:
Its been more then 1 year since I am driving it and I think (not sure) it didn’t had that sound earlier since a year. So, it could not be related to that work (if it has been done) but you say that the mercedes stopped putting the steering locks which put me to Re think situation

Yes a DEC-13 car is a model year '14.
Every Mercedes is different.... if your engine bay does not have an hydraulic steering pump, it's safe to say you've got a good EPS.

So back to square one:
something rubbing on your steering column.
Find out what it is or let someone figure that out soon.

The 14 e250 atleast in the US is electric steering. Like mentioned ya take a look under the hood and see if there is a hydraulic steering pump with reservoir. Doubt it.

I could not distinguish the sound from your video but I generally dont like to sit in one spot and turn the steering wheel back and forth. Be mindful prihadi did some test on the electric steering and it gets really heated up when working constantly on lots of turns and such.

Im still curious what happens if ya lose power while driving down the road....

I did that steering turn just for video purpose. It’s an EPS not hydraulic steering I just now confirmed with my VIN on data card. Heated up means like?

Would have to find it, prihadi did a video showing the temp spikes from the motor in the EPS steering when doing heavy cornering and such. Was pretty interesting.
