console control wheel issue

hi all, 2011 w212..
the comand wheel on the center armrest console seems to no longer react to spinning. I can push down and in the desired direction to make choices, but spinning functionality such as zooming on the NAV screen does not work. Any ideas? Did I reset something somewhere?
this is the old ntg 4.0. thanks in advance.
regards john

there a aluminum replacement part for that plastic shaft that's known to break given heat + time.
That's is the one part you want from eBay... everything else will be complete unit only.

Ask Google... $9Ea.
available all over the place

I haven't had that problem yet
besides I did resoldered the loose pins inside that module circuit.

You can find public videos instructions on how to upgrade the plastic shaft.

I'm just guessing, but it looks like you need to remove the whole module from the center console, then disassemble it to replace the shaft.

Yup....from experience...buy the assebled one. Return your "core" to them. Its a PITA to not break yours installing the aluminum shaft.

yeah I replaced just the staff with the metal one on mine. It was definitely a pain, just have to be patient and careful.
